Windows 7, 64 bit.

Once again I tried to replace spybot 162 by installing 2.4.
So, I removed spybot 162 completely and start download and install of 2.4
This time everything was running fine. I had some problems to update (very long). But after all is seems OK.
But I get a problem in windows explorer, I still can open the files but when trying to change the "name" of a file the explorer stopped to run.
I remove spybot 2.4 from my laptop and my explorer don't give an error by changing the file name anymore.

So I reinstalled spybot 162...everything OK.

On my desktop computer the installation of 2.4 didn't had problems. But here I didn't remove spybot 162.
Can this be the explanation ?
Do I have to remove 162 before installing 2.4 ?

No, I'm thinking that might just be a coincidence.

Since you don't have problems after removing Spybot 2.4 on the affected computer, I think it would be worth a try to reinstall Spybot 2.4 and then uninstall Windows Explorer Integration. There is no known issue in Spybot with renaming files and Windows Explorer crashing, so think of it as an experiment to see if it works. The page I link to is for a rightclicking issue, but it also shows how to uninstall Windows Explorer Integration, so the directions work for your purposes. :)

If I try to reinstall 2.4 do I have to remove in a first step vs 162 or can I install and remove 162 later?

Actually, if you try installing Spybot 2.4, Spybot 2.4 should offer to remove Spybot 1.6.2 for you during the install, I believe. That seems easiest, if you would like to do that. :)
