Hi

Is there malware that specifically stops on-line scanners from functioning properly on a PC? I am a regular user of Kaspersky and Trend Micro. Kaspersky’s scan results now contains a lot of unrecognisable information, which has continued even though I un-installed and re-installed it. Trend Micro won’t scan, saying there’s been an error in retrieving information from the internet and that my connection is slow, even though I did not get this message when the speed was 1MPS and have, actually, recently upgraded to 8MPS. I have also tried eTrust antivirus online scanner, but the updates won’t load onto the PC.

What could be wrong? Spybot, Adaware, Avast etc seem to be working normally, and the PC has been generally free of malware for about 5 months because I run scans frequently.

Here’s some of Kaspersky’s strange scan results and my HJT LOG. I will appreciate your help.

Your logs look fine alx21

I believe Kaspersky's online changed recently, perhaps try again or use some other online for now, I suggest you do go get sp2 as soon as possible.

Your ewido version is outdated, uninstall and go get the most recent.

Think Prevention: Put in place a good hosts file

How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month

To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
