So as mentioned i've been trying to remove some virus infecting my computer manually and have been so far unsuccessful. I'm somewhat of a newbie at all of this but i've been told to run hijackthis and post the log, any help would be great!

Welcome to the forum, You have several nasties including what looks like the Qoologic trojan. I will start by suggesting that this junk will attract more and asking you to stay offline as much as possible until you are clean. If this works for you and you are not receiving help elsewhere, follow these instructions to get started.

1) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

2) Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm (http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm)

3) Thanks to sUBs and anyone who helped with this fix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall
If the log is large You might need to post half in one reply half in another.

Make sure the computer was restarted and post the results of the Smitfraudfix Search, the log from combofix and a new HJT log. Add any of your comments that you think will help.

Thanks

Thanks for returning the information, what you mentioned in your post I have heard can happen if you run the "Clean" fix on an uninfected machine. We did not run the fix yet, and as you can see in the Smitfraud log you posted, this machine is infected. I see you managed to complete all of the instructions and combofix has located and removed a load of junk. Has the problem you experienced stopped? If you have not run the "Clean" function in SmitfraudFix, please do so:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php
Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Complete these instructions and post that SmitfraudFix report. Let me know if the Desktop is back to normal. I am looking at the results of combofix now and will post the next instructions as soon as possible. Please complete these instructions before starting the next ones.

Thanks...Phil

Please read and follow the instructions carefully and exactly.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

2) This script: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cscript.exe can be good or bad, do you know why it is there? Here is the Google on it:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-16,GGLG:en&q=cscript%2Eexe
If you do not know it, use one or more of these free online scans to find out and post the results for me to view:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

3) Second request for this???
Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

4) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {D5918061-4FA4-3B76-A4AB-671331DB3AB3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hfmog.dll

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://redirect.mirarsearch.com (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://awbeta.net-nucleus.com (HKLM)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) These files were reported by combofix as being created during the infection period. They may or may not be bad. Use the free online scanners I posted above to check out each file and then DELETE only the bad ones. Please be careful and do not delete any good files. If any that need to be deleted resist, then boot to safe mode and delete them there.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hfmog.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xgiahtwh.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rvtmacqg.exe

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rtutv.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rtutv.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winuns32.dll

also delete these files/folders if they are there:

C:\DOCUME~1\Jason\APPLIC~1\YSTEM~1\<<< folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\?icrosoft.NET\ <<< file

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running now.

Thanks

okay so i did everything you asked

1.done
2.Ran cscript.exe through and it came back clean
3. HJT has been moved off of the desktop to the c:\HJT folder i made (misread previous post i thought you actually WANTED it on the desktop)
4. Downloaded ATF cleaner
5. HJT system scan only and "fixed" mentioned items.
6. All items but the "rtutv" files were bad. Booted up in safe mode and tried to delete all the files mentioned however vtutr.dll and winuns32.dll will not allow me to delete them. vtutr.dll gives me a "being used by another person" error message and winuns32 gives me "cannot delete: Access denied" error message.
I did search for the other to files/folders you mentioned and they were not there, or at least i couldn't find them for some reason.
7. ATF cleaner ran successfully in safemode
8. Here is the new HJT log after rebooting

Thanks for returning your information and your feedback. We have another infection to deal with we call Vundo. The hackers know we use HJT to see it so they hide it and we rename HJT so we can see it, but in this case, there is no doubt it is there as it directs folks to the rouge Winfixer software. I have found that by hiding Vundo they often hide other infections, so this is what I would like you to do.

1) Return to C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe and rename the .exe to anything you like, MyFix.exe or something of that kind. Restart the computer and scan with HJT and post a new HJT log so we can see what we are after. Look for new BHO's and a 020, the file names will be the same. Once you post the log continue with the instructions.

2) When you run this fix, if it does not know the file, it will learn it upon restart. Sometimes it has to restart several times. You are looking for the Vundofix log to indicate all files were deleted. Then post the Vundofix log and a new HJT log. If there is a file that can not be removed, I would appreciate it if you would upload a copy to the link provided, this will help others with the infection.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix. If you have questions, please post them.

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

3) For you benefit, ATF-Cleaner does not need to be run in safe mode. It is a great little tool to help you clean, here is a tutorial:
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=1925

4) You HJT log looks clean right now, I notice you probably need a Java update: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ See this information: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
We also need to make sure those two files you could not delete, get deleted during the vundo removal.

Thanks

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B7672BAF-E9A3-49B6-86B2-C81719A18A4C} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\aitvunxj.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D44FFFF1-1FBF-4E93-BC2D-BD99EFF006D7} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutr.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a last HJT log for a final check, how is your computer running now?

Thanks...Phil

Thanks for the feedback, your HJT log islooking good also. You can rename it to what it was if you wish. Glad to hear your compouter is running well again and great job with the complex instructions:bigthumb:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
