The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "PU.CoolBar" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
PU.CoolBar installs a Chinese Desktop toolbar with links to advertising sites. Some Sites cannot be accessed anymore.
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Important: There are more autorun entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) or RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) to locate and get rid of these entries.

Products that have a key or property named "{092447E9-752F-46A9-8F2D-2DDAB9DAA3D7}_is1".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\coolbar.exe,setenv=CoolBar:001".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\hook.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\hook64.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\SetupDesk.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\unins000.dat".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\unins000.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop\x64Helper.exe".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\biaozhi.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\buy.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\game.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\girl.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\heath.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\ie.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\ie2.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\movie.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\shehu.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\taobao.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\tingxs.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\xiaoyouxi.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\youxi.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\zhibo.ico".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PU.CoolBar uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

The directory at "<$APPDATA>\coolbar".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\DeskTop".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PU.CoolBar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "SetupDesk.Core", plus associated values.
Delete the registry key "{52291AC4-443A-43C1-913C-99C16FB4B771}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{AB85BD57-8032-48EA-973B-12C8B658560D}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
Delete the registry key "{E1F4F6E7-7022-4754-8102-A40A3349D5AD}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{E4E20BF5-79E5-4A8C-BD53-34CACC54BF92}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "CoolBar" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
Delete the registry key "DeskTop" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
If PU.CoolBar uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=regalyzer), RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
