Hijack log help...

Got hit by an ugly virus that AVG found and was able to clear, but not fix. Tried system restore with no luck. Here is the output from HijackThis for some assistance. Your help is appreciated...thanks in advance.

1) You are running HJT.exe from a .zip file in a Temporary Directory. This is unsafe as we will have no backups. That is why you received this message when you used HJT: http://russelltexas.com/malware/images/unsafefolder.gif
Please use the information in the following link to place HJT in a permanent, safe folder, I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm
Do this before you proceed

Thanks to Metallica and whoever helped with the fix. Please read and follow the directions carefully, this is your best chance of success.

2) Download Brute Force Uninstaller (http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip).
Unzip it to it’s own folder (c:\BFU)

RIGHT-CLICK HERE (http://metallica.geekstogo.com/EGDACCESS.bfu) and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download EGDACCESS Remover. Save it in the folder you made earlier (c:\BFU)

Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe

In the scriptline to execute copy and paste c:\bfu\EGDACCESS.bfu
Press execute and let it do it’s job.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.


3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Make sure you restart the computer then post a new HJT log along with your comments, how is the computer running now.

Follwed your concise instrutions.

Ran IPCONFIG and NIC had been reconfigured so was unable to hit my router or internet. Modified to use DHCP instead of the hijacked IP and SUCCESS.

All seems well, able to access internet and print as designed.

As directed have included revised HJT log below.

Thank you for your time, expertise and assistance. I will all follow the 4 day instructions should I have future issues.

Thanks for the feedback, your HJT log appears clean of malware, thanks to Metallica's fine tool. If all is working as it should, I would say you are good to go.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
