Does anti-beacon have to run constantly, that is, with the window open to be fully protected?
Surely there is a background task / service that handles this and I do not have to keep this spybot anti-beacon window open the entire time???
No, you do not need to keep the anti-beacon window open all the time. :)

No, it applies changes to system settings that are usually persistent. We would recommend to run it after Windows and other software updates to make sure those updates haven't reset these settings.
