I've got the full paid version of Spybot, but the services won't start. Trying to start them in the Settings panel, they are all greyed out. If I open with Admin privileges, I get an error message.

Any advice? No other antivirus software installed beyond Windows Security.

drghughes noticed that one of the services didn't start immediately after installing Spybot 2.8 until after they had rebooted their computer:

If you haven't rebooted your computer since installing, you could give it a try and see if the services start up afterwards. It might be something similar happening with yours. :)

Boy, I wish it were that. I've tried multiple things and rebooted a bunch of times.

Sorry to hear that. You could open a support ticket here:

Also, my apologies on the late reply. I got a bit busy, and forgot to check this thread for replies. :red:

Just in case you haven't come across https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/241584/error-1058-error-message-is-displayed-when-a-service-suddenly-stops

Given that it looks like you (sensibly, in my view) normally use a standard user account, that solution may work, especially since in my experience Spybot doesn't seem to cope well with that way of operating.
