zlob trojan i'm assuming, thats what i've read online. I also read the instructions on this website, and hope i'm following them correctly.

I used eTrust for my online scan, and since i just downloaded it, i'm hoping the newest version of hijackthis.

I've used Spybot S&D for almost a year now, and it kicks! keep up the great work.

Alright, just finished the directions i read, (safemode, ran spybot, ran my antivirus) and cleaned/deleted the 3 things that came up. Restarted my machine, and still, when i click on IE, it comes up to uptodatesecurity.net

I'd appreciate any help i can get here. Also, i'm wondering, how malicious is this thing, I told my wife not to go to ebay, paypal, our bank, or to go to any website that requires a username password. (this one being the exception, and i created a username/password that i've never used before). Should we also avoid opening/using Outlook?

Restart the PC

Do a full system scan with your updated mcafee program.

Uninstall spyhunter via addremove programs

this is my most current HJT log, I just ran it from safemode, after doing HJT, fix checked, i restarted, but computer freezes completely. (actually it froze when i clicked restart... it got hung up at 'Windows is Shutting down')

So... i cold booted and went to safe mode, ran McAfee there, and another HJT, which i copied and i'm pasting here:

I'm running in safemode currently, because everytime i do a regular boot, i completely lock up and have to cold boot to get out. However, my homepage is no longer hijacked, it goes where i want it.

Ok but in the future if you have to use safe mode with networking you have to manualy start your antiviurs program and firewall (if you have one) before connecting to the internet.
