While browsing in edge, I received a Ransom FBI ad and I powered off computer.
After Reboot, edge did not work.
Reboot again and I received a Quarantine Request and I said yes.
After that edge and outlook would fail w/o error message.
Ran as admin and I would get message:
"Windows can not access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the the item"

I receive this message for outlook also which was open at the time.

Word or excel does not work either

Was the quarantine request from Spybot? Do you have a version of Spybot with Live Protection?
Could you describe the FBI Ransom ad a little, I didn't find any info when I was googling it. :)

Yes, the quarantine request was from Spybot.
I have Spybot 2.9 with live protection.

I have seen the FBI Ransom adware for years. It locks your computer and the only way to recover is to power down and power up and see what you got. Usually, you will continue w/o problems but this time I had to reboot twice and MS products will not work.
The task bar then took about 10 minutes to display.

"Windows can not access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the the item"

Everything else seems to work except for edge and MS Office 365 products. Under user it does not display error message.
Execute as Admin results in message about permissions or path of file gone.

The executables are there and the permissions look good.

Okay, thanks. :)
The malware removal section of the forum is read only now, so I can't send you there.
Team Spybot has a contact page. Perhaps you could contact them, and you could include a link to this topic if you'd like:

I actually did what you suggested yesterday and waiting for a response from Spybot Suport.
Thanks.

I'm glad to hear that. I hope you get Edge, Outlook and the Microsoft Office 365 products working again. :)
