View Full Version : Trouble removing Command Service

gabecastillo
2006-10-04, 03:48
SpyBot cannot remove all elements of "Command Service". It continually fails to remove 2 registry keys associated with it. They are:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\cmdService
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cmdService

I have rebooted into SafeMode, and regular and it has the same difficulties. I continually get "WinAntiVirus2006" pages opening themselves up on my machine.
I am posting logs from Panda Online Scan (ActiveScan) as well as HijackThis(next post)

Looks good

One more detail to take care of, Is command service still showing in SpyBot scans ?
If so > Usualy when command service shows repeatadly it is becouse of the method ad-aware
uses to remove it. It leave's a harmless registry key with modified permisions.
Please download and unzip Ren-cmdservice to your desktop.
http://downloads.subratam.org/Lon/ren-cmdservice.zip
Open the ren-cmdservice folder by doubleclicking it and then doubleclick the
ren-cmdservice.bat file to run the program.
A text will open when it is finished, Post it please.
Then restart the PC run SpyBot check for and fix any problems found.
When next you check for problems it wont or shouldnt be there.

Hows that PC now ?

Think Prevention: Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month

To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"
