Spybot Hangs Up, Redirects while browsing

Hello,

On the advice of Tashi from the SpyBot froum I am posting my HJT log. My machine seems to be fine except Spybot "hangs" first at 499 Baciami, and then literally takes hours to go nowhere. (after six hours it got only a quarter of the job done) I am using windows 2000 for professionals, version 1.4 of spybot with detection 2006-10-06. I ran Housecall because I use firefox but never got the chance to copy the log. One other thing, I seem to be getting re-directs to strange google searches now. I have also tried to run spybot in safe mode with the same result.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

Restart the PC

Manualy delete these files

Your antivirus might delete when you get close to them, thats fine.



Note:
If You have connection problems or those 017's ~ 85.255.116.69 85.255.112.91, return >
Before doing this write down all the settings, Note that not all system/setups even have these settings, While some connection service's will require them.
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties.
Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.

Do that for every conntection listed.


Post a fresh hijackthis log please, be sure to mention any current problems.

So far so good. I have done all you suggested and everything seems ok now. I didn't have any problems with the connection settings...Over the next day or two I'll put this thing through its paces to make sure of no issues...A couple of questions if I may: since this is an older laptop, when I put a new state of the art antivirus software on, it slows to a craw....Any sugestions? What do you think of the spyware doctor? Also, if my machine is clean now and I have a HJT log of it clean, if there is another problem could I simply "re-set" my settings to match those of the clean log? Your thoughts and help are greatly appreciated...Here is the latest and greatest HJT log...

Uninstall mcafee (looks like you have) and install a less resouce intensive program such as one of the three mentioned here

Im not familur with spy doctor
SpyBot, Ad_Aware, spysweeper and Ewido are good programs to have
while you can scan with more that one antispyware only one of there resident shields should be used at a time.

To help with resources you might be able to simply uninstall these programs
