Starting app. very slowly

My machine seems to be starting apps. very slowly. It takes forever to run Spybot now. I can't turn up any viruses with my Norton's AV '06. I've ran adaware SE, and here's my online virus scan result and my HJT logfile. I think I may be having processor problems or RAM problems, but I want someone to double check this and see if there is any mal-ware or anything that looks out of place. Thanks in advance.

Welcome back to the forum, You have been hacked by some nasty folks in the Ukraine, see this: 85.255.114.67
http://whois.domaintools.com/85.255.114.67 We call this infection Wareout and it can be tricky to remove, but our own LonnyRJones has created a fix, you need to follow the directions carefully.

1) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

2) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

3) Download FixWareout from one of these sites:

Save it to your Desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

4) When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan,
and check the following items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running now.

Following your instructions:
My Windows Defender wouldn't open. It was missing MpClient.dll. Tried to download that file with no success and tried to reinstall Defender and it gave me an installation error, so I removed it completely, assuming that is fine and can be reinstalled when we finish.

Downloaded FixWareout and installed and ran it. It started to run, then gave me this notepad log:

It did not prompt me to restart or do anything else after it showed this report. Since that, all I have done is to reboot and post this reply.

Sounds like you have other problems besides malware, have your Windows CD handy and try running System File Checker to see what happens.

Click Start > Run, type in sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
Note: there is a space between sfc and /scannow
This should replace any corrupted/missing system files and will hopefully fix things. You may need your XP disc in your CD drive for this.

From the sound of the missing files, you may want to consider reinstalling Windows.

Okay,
I couldn't get my disk to reinstall the autoexec.nt because my disk was an older version since I've downloaded SP2. I did get it from the net, and after I downloaded it, then my FixWareout ran and seemed to work, prompted me to reboot, then it ran HJT. Here is the log it posted. Then I proceeded to remove the 7 items you spoke of previously.

I need to see a new HJT log. Once you post it do this.

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Use these free online scanners to make sure these files that Fixwareout located are bad:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CSBIQ.EXE

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMWQO.EXE
Once you know they are bad, delete them. Let me know how the computer is running now.

This log looks good except for that out of date Java program which will get you infected.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

I updated my Java

I renewed my System Restore like you advised.

I scanned those two files and only two file scanners were good enough to catch it... BitDefender and VBA32. I then deleted them.

Everything seems to be running much better now. Do you recommend putting the Windows Defender program back on, or is that maybe how this problem got into my system?

That's good to hear, I can only guess the Ukrainians used a weakness in your ActiveX to infect you. Please do activate Defender as stated clearly in the instructions:

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.
The experts in the links I provided will have information to help you stay safe online, especially look at suggestions for ActiveX settings. Surf safe, it is a cyber-jungle out there:laugh:
