View Full Version : Trojan.Dialer.Qs & Stop aThe Roll + More! Please Help Me!
Hi,
Would someone please be so kind as to help me remove the gunk that is clogging up my computor ever since being redirected to a malicious website.
So that we can start somewhere, i have already performed a full Spybot search and destroy scan, a full adaware SE scan and a full spydoctor scan. I have also rebooted into safe mode, and performed a full AVG anti-spyware scan, and an Avast Antivirus scan. I am currently in the process of scanning with McAfee Stinger.
Anything listed by any of the above scanning utilities i have taken the appropiate action, however i am STILL plagued by Trojan.Dialer.Qs which attempted to open "d.mettered.net..." every few minutes. When it does so, avast goes crazy (and so do i).
Having run all of these scanning utilities, here is my latest HiJackThis log :

Overall, the computor seems to running back to how it used to. No problems with malware alerts, or popups etc.
Start aThe Roll STILL seems to be listed in HiJackThis, as well as several other items which are listed as file missing.
Looking at the startup section in msconfig, enotxa2.exe is listed (the file name related to Start aThe Roll). What is the best way to fix this? Check the option in HiJack This, select to fix it, unselect from startup in msconfig, reboot into safe mode and search for the file then remove?
Thanks for all your help so far! I REALLY appreciate it!

You need ot stop Spyware Doctor's real time protection first.
Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following,
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {32E71DA9-44B8-BE28-B919-11BE24CB2CBC} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {461DAB3A-CEC7-1444-7F83-46050DD41241} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {63014B7E-79A0-A3C0-8CC2-0F6BA0C0854A} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8BA98536-213E-472B-AF9A-28A75AA645B9} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkji.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Start aThe Roll] enotxa2.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Start aThe Roll] enotxa2.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Start aThe Roll] enotxa2.exe
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
make sure you have hidden files and folders check before you search.
enotxa2.exe
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.
Run this online scan and post the log here.
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm
Also Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.
Well, this has to have been the least productive report so far :
First i attempted to fix the items you suggested with HiJackThis. Most were removed, however
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {32E71DA9-44B8-BE28-B919-11BE24CB2CBC} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {461DAB3A-CEC7-1444-7F83-46050DD41241} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {63014B7E-79A0-A3C0-8CC2-0F6BA0C0854A} - (no file)
will not fix for some reason, and are still listed. I have performed this fixing action in both normal and safe mode, with no luck.
Having rebooted into safe mode, i could not find any trace of the file enotxa2.exe (i also did a full system search for this file with no luck).
To top this off, it seems that i am now infected with a coolweb dialer, as it has popped up 3 times asking me to connect to coolweb.
I have attempted to use panda activescan (i have used this many times previously), HOWEVER when its downloading the activeX control, my Avast antivirus alerts me that "http://acs.pandasoftware.com/activescan/as5free/motor.cab\pskavs.DLL" contains a virus/worm 'win32:CTX'. For this reason, it aborts the connection, and thus i have not been able to perform the scan with panda.
Any other ideas?
Btw, heres the latest HJT log :

Lets turn off Avast and try to run panda.
Ok, i have performed the panda scan. I dont know how clear the log is going to come out in here. If it is totally unreadable, i will just uploaded the txt file it produced.
EDIT : forum says my post is too long to post the full report. I have uploaded it here : http://www.yalland.co.uk/Activescan.txt
do you think it is worth me paying for activescan pro if it means it will resolve my problems?

do you think it is worth me paying for activescan pro if it means it will resolve my problems?no :)
I'd like to see another log.
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
Post that log in your next reply.
Ok, i have done a new combofix scan.
Uploaded the log to http://www.yalland.co.uk/ComboFix.txt
Would you prefer if i kept uploading my logs? It seems that they are easier to read if i do.

Click start > control panel > user accounts > change the way users log on or off > uncheck fast user switching > restart you computor.
Download, unzip and run 'RootkitRevealer' from Sysinternals:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html
Once the program has started, press Scan and let it run.
When the scan is done, use 'File > Save' to place the logfile in a convenient location (such as the desktop). The default filename will be 'RootkitReveal.txt'.
Save your Log File
Copy/Paste the contecnts of that logfile into your next reply
NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !
That way you should have a much simpler and clearer log file in which to pursue and evaluate.
Ok, the scan is complete.

Sorry lost track of this thread.
Are you still needing help?
If so post another hijackthis log.
Hey, thats ok!
I have been very grateful of your help so far, so take as long as you need :)
Well, the coolweb dialler does not seem to be bugging me any more, although i have not done anything else since my last post on here. It just seems to have 'vanished'.
Anyway, i shall post a new HJT log. If you could tell me if im still infected, i would be very appreciative. Apart from that, everything seems to be fine at the moment! Thanks for all your help!

Let's see if these wil leave now.
Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following,

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.
As before, HJT failed to fix/remove any of the 4 items you listed. My HJT log is the same as previously posted.
Although these items should not be listed, i am currently content with how everything is running. No popups, no diallers. Im happy!

One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus or spyware infection.
There can be backups made in the System Restore folder.
Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus or spyware removal.
To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Reboot.
3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
This will make a new restore point you can use however I would like you to try this registry cleaner. After you are done.
Download RegSeeker http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm.
Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program.
Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK.
When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again.
Then right click within the search results and select delete.
Run it twice deleting everything it finds.
Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything).
In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back.
A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.
Then post a new log from hijackthis.
Okidoke...
Heres the latest log :)

I have tried so many times to remove these items, but to no such luck.
They are extremely stubborn, and although HJT says that they were removed, they are still listed when performing a new scan.
I have tried to remove these items 50+ times.

Are you familur with the registry editor ?
Go start run type in
regedit
expand the branches untill you are at this location (be carefull)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects
rightclick on Browser Helper Objects choose permisions, there should be no denys there, select the administator and system group one at a time and put check next to allow, again there should be no deny's.
click apply then ok and exit regedit.
You should be able to fix those items with Hijackthis now ?
Doesnt seem to be much luck there.
There are no 'denys' for any of the items listed (administrator, system etc). Just 'allows'.

You understand they arent a problem, Might be if or when you go to install a new bho though
Lets check
Copy the contents of the code box below into a new notepad document (not wordpad).
Click file> save as...> call it check.bat > file types *all files*> and save it to desktop.
@echo off
Echo.
Reg save "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects" Bho.hiv
Run check.bat then either send Bho.hiv to me or attach it at spykiller
Send it to submitlonnyATsubratam.org
Replace AT with @ , include a link back to this thread.
Or you could attach it here http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=1.0
Hey,
I have sent the request file via email. Hope you receive it ok :)

Ok lets try this batch file
Download not open
http://downloads.subratam.org/Lon/undeleteableBHO's.zip
To your dekstop extract the files inside open the folder and run runthis.bat
Now scan with hijackthis, you should be able to fix those items.
*Bravo Bravo*
You have eliminated those stubborn BHO entries :D: !!!
THANK YOU!
Heres a fresh HJT log. How is it looking?

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
