Zlob Trojan

Hello all,
first, I wanted to say that I appreciate what you guys are doing here, it's been a big help. Now, I think that I got my computer infected with the Zlob trojan. It kept popping up security alerts saying that I needed to download a certain antivirus software to get rid of an unknown virus. Well, I found this page:

and have followed all the steps listed to try and rid myself of this intruder. Now I have all these reports and I have absolutely no idea what they mean, looks like gibberish to me. I'd appreciate you guys looking at them and telling me whether my computer's ok or not. Thanks for all the help,

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart and post a last HJT log, let me know how the computer is running now. Since you basically removed all of the junk, I will include this information.

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Thanks for the prompt assistance, its very appreciated. Ok, I followed your steps, cleaned my system restore and have my HJT log, but first a question. Do I need to worry about someone somehow obtaining access to any of my password protected info online (e.g. bank account, email) during this fiasco? I've been careful not to access any of these sites while my computer's been on the fritz, but I really don't know how these things work. First I see a badly out of date Java program, see this information:

I wish I could guarantee you would never have issues, this infection is more about showing you adds instead of stealing passwords. You have to keep all programs up to date and maintain security, the suggestions from the experts I posted will help, here are suggestions about passwords:
