View Full Version : A very strange behaviour

A couple of days ago I was navigating with Opera when the mouse wheel stopped working properly: both wheel-up and wheel-down started acting as wheel-down. I opened internet explorer and I experienced the same behaviour, so I discarded it being a problem of the browser. I though it had to be the drivers, or the mouse itself. However my keyboard also has a similar wheel which I seldom use, and when I checked it I found out it also malfuncions, although differently (the computer reacts as if ctrl+mouse wheel down had been pressed, in Opera that shrinks the screen, but now there is now way to zoom back). Ok, so it must be the drivers. I downloaded the latest ones (both mouse and keyboard are connected via Bluetooth) but to my surprise everything is still the same. My last try was to disconnect the logitech entries from the startup, trying to force windows to take control directly of the keyboard and mouse, with no effect other than increasing mouse sensitivity.

I have of course scanned thoroughly my hard drive with my antivirus, made sure it was updated before that (I use avast) and I am a regular user of SPybot S&D and Teatimer. Two days ago Spybot found what looked like a malware: "Teknum update", which after doing some reserach it appears it gets installed with EasyCryptor (Handybits software) and it stops working if it is disabled. Strangely, Handybits provides a patch to remove it without hampering the software, but I simply uninstalled everything since I don't trust them anymore. Currently SB S&D scans show zero results.

I am afraid this is all... HijackThis gives the following log, in case it helps:

Thanks in advance, I am quite puzzled by this.

Update. To my surprise, the mousewheel functions differently in Excel and Word: it works properly in the former and does nothing (it is ignored) in the latter. I am saying this in case it helps to narrow down what the problem might be. Could it be that I have I virus that my antivirus doesn't detect?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Don Pelayo
You log appears clean however an online scan is a good idea.

Is the only problems with your mouse and or keybourd ?

Post a report from atleast one of these >

Panda ActiveScan-Free online scanner,
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm
Do a full scan > Click the my computer button
After the scan click see report then Save the report and post it back here please.
Kaspersky Lab - Free Online scan:
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Click scan settings and place a check next to use [x]extended this database etc etc. Click ok.
Then choose: my computer: scan all your hard drives and mapped disks.
when finished click save as text and post that in your reply.
We dont need to see item's listed as "Object is locked skipped" so edit those out.
We do not need to see items reported that are in an antivirus quorantine folder.
