Rebooted in safe mode and ran Spybot S&D - no problems reported

I realise that the above are quarantined files from a previous online scan.

Ran Hijack this, here is the log

Welcome to the forum, I see this nasty: http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/w32rbotegj.html and what looks to be this one:
http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/w32scanbota.html

Let's try these instructions.

1) Update your Java program, see this information: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\ <<< out of date

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

5) Turn off TeaTimer until you are dnne, it will block the changes we must make.
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm
PCguard advisor may also stop changes, I do not know. You may wish to turn it off until you complete the instructions.

6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL =
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Recylinder Check] vxdpadxhod.exe
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: csrss.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Search for and delete these files:
csrss.dll
vxdpadxhod.exe

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Follow the instructions in this link:
http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
John McKenna <<< thanks for the tutorial

Post the AVG Spyware scan results and a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer in running now.

Thanks

If you have not removed this file yet:
vxdpadxhod.exe
Once of the experts who creates fixes for this junk would like a copy of the file. Once you know where it is, follow these directions before you remove it please.

Please download the Suspicious file Packer (http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip) from Safer-Networking.Org and unzip it to your desktop.

Run SFP.exe.

Please copy the following lines into the Step 1: Paste Text window:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\vxdpadxhod.exe
C:\WINDOWS\vxdpadxhod.exe

then click "Continue".

This will create a .cab file on your desktop named requested-files[Date/Time].cab

Next, please visit TheSpyKillers forum HERE (http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=1.0)

Read the first topic for instructions on uploading files then start a new Topic, post a link to this thread and upload the requested files.cab archive from your desktop.

Thank you, it will be appreciated if you can do this.

Have done all suggested but I cannot delete file csrss.dll or find vxdpadxhod.exe.

I have copied the file and posted it as requested. I did not follow the virus vault instructions as I could not delete the files. What can I do now?

Sorry about not letting you know I was on holiday as it was all a bit manic beforehand!

Sorry, I did not get my notification when you posted. I do not see any malware in the HJT log. To be sure you are clean, do this:

1) Turn off TeaTimer until you are done:
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

2) C:\Program Files\blueyonder\PCguard advisor\PCguardadvisor.exe <<< turn off this program so it will not interfere withn the AVG Anti-Spyware scan.

3) Please follow the directions this time, make sure the scan is run in Safe Mode.

How to remove malware using AVG Anti-Spyware

AVG Anti-Spyware from Ewido Networks provides advanced protection from Trojans, spyware, dialers, browser hijackers, worms and keyloggers.

This setup files contain the free as well as the paid version of AVG anti-spyware. After the installation, a free 30-day trial version containing all the extensions of the full version will be activated. At the end of the trial, these extensions will be deactivated and the program will turn into a feature-limited freeware version. The purchased license code can be entered at any time.

Download and install the trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

The program should launch automatically after installation. If not, double-click the desktop icon.

Deactivate the Resident Shield

- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

Update AVG's Definitions

- AVG automatically updates the spyware definitions if you are connected to the net during installation.
- As a precaution, click the "Update" icon from the main menu.
- Then click the "Start Update" button.
- When you receive the "Update successful" prompt, close AVG.
- Note: If you have any problems with the updater, you can Update AVG Manually.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode

- Restart your computer.
- After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
- Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
- Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
- Further instructions on Safe Mode can be found here.

Scanning with AVG Anti-Spyware

Open AVG Anti-Spyware and click the "Scanner" icon from the main menu.
- Click "Complete System Scan" to start scanning.
- When the scan completes, click "Recommended action" beneath the results window and select Quarantine.
- Then click the "Apply all actions" button to quarantine everything detected.
- Then click Save report > Save report as and save the Report-Scan.txt to your desktop. `

Close AVG Anti-Spyware and restart your machine to complete the removal process.

Post the Report-Scan.txt, let me know exactly what issues you have, if you are receiving any error messages I need them "word for word"

Thanks

However PC Guard is still giving me the following two messages;

PC Guard is provided FOC by my Cable/Broadband supplier. It is copyrighted to Radialpoint. Hope this helps.

You must post the HJT log, I can not see anything until I have it.
I also want to say I know nothing of the program your ISP is providing you with, and it well may be giving you a false positive.

Do you use Ad-aware? If so it may be the program that left the cmdservice key in the registry and it is supposed to have updated to remove that. Get the most recent updates and run it again. Let me know if it finds anything it can not clean.

Is your version of Spybot 1.4? If so, get the newest updates and run a scan, then let me know if it finds anything it can not clean.

Please also tell me exactly what problems you are having besides the fact these programs are finding leftover junk that did not get removed properly.

thanks
