Hello,

I received this through use of bittorrent. Since this virus has infected my computer, I have received several instances of AVG detecting a virus called Klone. I have removed the virus several times from my machine. I have also run housecall, spybot s&d, adaware, f-secure and panda to try removing this. No luck.

My most recent scan with panda generated the following log file:

I have also run hijackthis, but it appears to crash part way though the scan. I'll post log in the next thread. (too big to post in one post)

Welcome to the forum, I can see this worm: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32tileboteh.html running from your services and you also appear to have a hidden Vundo trojan infection?
Spyware:Spyware/Virtumonde Not disinfected C:\WINNT\system32\ljjgdbb.dll

Please follow these directions: You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly. Uninstall one, update the one you keep and run a complete system scan, post for me any item that can't be removed, the complete name and pathway.

"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/03/AR2005120300087.html

Return to here: C:\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename the .exe to say puma5d04.exe or whatever you like. Post a new HJT log and we will see if we can get a look at this infection.

Thanks

hmmm. two virus scans. thats news to me. I thought I uninstalled NAV for AVG and their firewall for zonalarm. i left a few of their other products on my machine like norton go back and systemworks in general. is that the second virus scan your noticing?

i'm rerunning AVG now. I'll post the results and another hijack this when its done.

Yes, I may be seeing a lot of Norton and it looks like two running. If you have only one running that is fine. I may have been looking at this:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/spbbcsvc/

As I said you are running this: O23 - Service: Windows System Tray (WINTRAY) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\wintray.exe (file missing) Forget the (file missing) that is a HJT glitch, the item is running. I can't tell about Vundo without seeing the new HJT log. You can give this a try if you wish:

http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
but it will not remove the Vundo trojan if it is present.

Thanks

thank you. i am still running the avg virus scan. when it finishes, i'll rerun hijackthis and post the results.

should i run the avg spyware cleaner before i repost the hijackthis results?

Please post the HJT log, if Vundo is present, which I stongly suspect it is, it will show in the BHO's and 020 Winlogon. We will remove it first and run the antivirus scan later to make sure nothing else is hiding.

Thanks

There it is, let's try to kill the trojan in Services first, follow these instructions carefully.

Disable the offending Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Windows System Tray and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

Delete the offending Service
Open HijackThis and click Config -> Misc Tools -> Delete an NT service.
In the Delete window, type (WINTRAY) and press OK.
OK any prompts, close HijackThis, and restart your computer.

When you run Atribune's Vundofix, it may take more than once to find and delete all of the infection. Look at the report, if it was successful, all located files will have been deleted.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

Make sure you restart the computer and post the C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log. Let me know how the computer is running now.

Thanks

You know what, I do not use Java. I pass along the information and I have never heard of anyone have a problem. I have removed Vundo from many computer that did get infected with out of date versions. If you have any doubt, I suggest you address your questions to: http://java.sun.com/developer/support/

Something to consider

You can rename HJT.exe if you wish...tashi:) will close your topic in a few days.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.

If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
