Dear Helper, or reader.
I have never used a forum before, yet every day I use a computer with work. At some point I have caught a weird thing that keeps popping up windows and most annoyingly jumping web-pages to go to other web-pages. I have searched everywhere to find how to remove them. Eventually I downloaded and paid for Xoftspy, and got completely bollocked by my IT man, who cant fix things anyway.

Xoftspy hasnt stopped it and I have registered to this forum for help. There are so many scams to download stuff I am genuinlly in need of help.

I dont have "hijackthis" which seems to be a core product used in the reporting here.

Can someone please help me?

Hello.

Regarding XoftSpy:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm#xos_note

It may have been taken off the Rogue List but that does not mean it is recommended.

Please follow the procedure in this sticky topic:
"BEFORE you POST" -Preliminary Steps and scanning with SPYBOT-S&D (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)

Then a helper will assist you as soon as available to do so. :)

Hello

Run Hijackthis click >"config" then "misc tools" >"delete file on reboot"
(exact spelling counts!!! so dont browse to the files)
Copy/Paste the bolded line below into the File name box then click Open,
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWFX5_0001_N53L1025NetInstaller.exe
Answer NO to the prompt to reboot the PC
do the same for this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drkdlud.dll
and
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kahqfrf.dll
This time Answer Yes to the prompt to reboot the PC

Once windows has restarted Fallow the instructions on this page, afterwards post the logs mentioned near the bottom

Ok, deleted those 3 items ok.

The nwbevkpq.dll file is in C\WINDOWS\system32. But you prob know that. In terms of properties it only says
Opens with : Unknown Application
Size 59.5KB
Created 31 oct 2006 13:15:45
Modified 07 Nov 18:26
Accessed 07 Nov 18:26

I have zero idea what it is? (I'm rather impressed so far with this process)

You should be good to go after this unless a problem surfaces.

Think Prevention: Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month

To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
