Spybot S&D won't start or run

I have been using Spybot S&D successfully for more than a year now. A few weeks ago, I noticed the program wouldn't run as a scheduled task (I have it scheduled to run every day). Whether I use the icon on the desktop, the Start menu, or Windows scheduled tasks, the program will no longer start or run. Over the past few weeks I have completely removed Spybot from my system (following directions from your site) and downloaded and reinstalled fresh copies, and they work for approximately 1 day, then the program won't start again.

I posted on the other forum and got the Miniremoval for CoolWWWebsearch which I have used and there is no CoolWWWebsearch present on my computer.

I am using Windows XP Professional sp2, Genuine and fully updated.

Welcome to the forum, A look at your HJT log show no obvious malware or reason why you are having issues with Spybot S&D. I do see an out of date Java program which can cause you malware problems: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ see this information:

What I suggest you do is post here: http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4 and give them as much information as possible about the issue you are having. They will be able to help you.

Thank you. I removed the old Java as you suggested. I also downloaded some other protections suggested in other parts of this forum. None of those scans found anything either, but for some reason Spybot is starting again. I won't argue with what's working! I will save the link to the other forum and post there if this problem with Spybot crops up again for me.

I am very impressed with this forum and my respect for the whole spybot project has increased tremendously. I will be making a donation soon. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for letting us know, it m,ight be a good idea to clean your System Restore files: System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
