Hello everyone,
Last night my web browser was acting a bit strange. When I click on a link from a search engine it takes me to an entirely different website. After about three clicks on the link it finally goes to where I want. So far I have been lucky enough that it hasn't taken me to any dubious and distasteful websites. Would you be so kind as to look at these log files and give me some advice ?

Welcome to the forum, I do not see any malware in this log. I do however, see your Java program is out of date and that will get you infected.
See this information: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
If you want to look, then do this:
1) Run that Panda scan again, have it remove anything it locates, post the scan results so I can see them.
2) Download and run AVG Anti-Spyware, make sure you follow the instructions in the turorial and delete or at least quarantine what it locates. I need to see the scan report.http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
Thanks to John McKenna for the tutorial.
3) Post the results of the two scans and a new HJT log.
Thanks

Thanks for returning the information. This is what I see in the first log:
Panda
kill&clean Not disinfected <<< results of using a rouge spyware program, see this:
http://www.castlecops.com/o9list-174.html
Potentially unwanted tool:Application/Processor Not disinfected C:\Battle of Britain II\Process.exe
pup that appears to be part of a game, you can check here to make sure it is not infected: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
Bunch of cookies, they can be controlled, if you need information showing you how to do that let me know.
C:\Documents and Settings\Sean Debling\My Documents\Unzipped\hijackthis\backups\backup-20060615-122223-938
HJT backups, you can remove that.
Dialer:Dialer.NQ Not disinfected C:\winhelp.chm[/d_tony1.exe]
check the file and delete it manually if it scans bad.
AVG Anti-Spyware
Downloader.Agent.uj << this is Wareout, we probably want to run the tool though nothing shows in the HJT log.
Looks like the program cleaned the cookies for you.
I see no malware problems in the HJT log, let's run the fix for Wareout to make sure nothing is hiding from us.
Download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your Desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
When your system reboots, follow the prompts.
Post the results of that scan and let me know of any issues.
Thanks

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. I was wondering if you had tried to remove this infection (Wareout) by another means? It is a bit unusual to see no signs in the HJT log, and only the marker in the AVG A/S let me know it was there. If that takes care of your problem, the HJT log looks clean so I would say you are good to go.
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam
AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
