Hi

When i run spybot it informs me i have Smitfraud and the tool bar. I get a shield in the system tray advising me i have infected software.

I ran vundofix which deleted 2 files, now i get a prompt advising they are missing when windows starts up and the shield in the system tray is still there and spybot again finds the same problems

i renamed hijak this to Analyse, here is the logfile:

HI

1. Reboot into >>>safe mode (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406)
2. Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
3. Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infected files
4. You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection
5. The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file
6. A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt ... Post the contents of the C:\rapport.txt file in your next post here...

process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

THEN...

1. Download Pocket KillBox .. http://www.help2go.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=download&id=378 (unzip to the desktop)

2. Run the Killbox.exe file

check the box "Delete on Reboot"

copy and paste the following bold line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox..

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winzwr32.dll

click the red button with the white X on it.

Say yes to "delete on reboot" - then say "yes" to reboot now...

Let it reboot ...

If you receive an error message "PendingRenameOperation...."

(reboot manually if you have to)

Then go immediately to the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder, and delete all the files in it (Do NOT delete the folder itself)

& the C:\documents and settings\user name\local settings\temp ... folder and delete all the files in it (Do NOT delete the folder itself)

reboot again...

check the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder, & C:\documents and settings\user name\local settings\temp ... folder to see if they are still empty...

run hijackthis and post a new log...

Then go immediately to the C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder, and delete all the files in it (Do NOT delete the folder itself)

One file will not delete: an application called CU3145

& the C:\documents and settings\user name\local settings\temp ... folder and delete all the files in it (Do NOT delete the folder itself)

deleted all, on reboot a folder appeared called svf05.tmp

Hi

One file will not delete: an application called CU3145

I take it this files icon has little dog on it ? in which case it's OK

on reboot a folder appeared called svf05.tmp

you mean a file ? not folder ?

Disconnect from the internet Close ALL browser windows (including this one) - run hijackthis and tick to fix (check the box next to) the list below.........when all are ticked (checked) click the Fix Checked button at the bottom. :-

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {357E5796-E2CF-C332-8EDF-009B1C83CF3D} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geosnw.dll

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.

If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
