I dont think that this really does fall under this category, but can you help me?
I installed XP professional recently on about a Dell Inspiron 2500 that only has 128 mb of ram and a 900 mhz processor. Can you take a look at my HJT log to see what processes I can get rid of? Is their anything else I can do to speed my outdated laptop up? Do you think more ram would help? Also, How can I free up some space because the hard drive is a bit small (about 20gb). I already use ccleaner.

thanks

hi bobman1134,

128MB of RAM is the extreme minimum. The operating system itself uses 80mb or more. i think you would see a marked improvement if you added another stick of 128mb. (or more)adding memory is one of the least expensive things you can do. although the older SDRAM now is costing more than the newer RAM

other than that you migth look thru the add/remove programs panel and uninstall what you dont use.

run cleanmgr:
Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

defrag your hd:
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter

Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
