Hello all,
I am new here, I was on a forum I use for a game I play, well needless to say one of the players posted a video link, me thinking it was a problem in the game clicked and clicked for the codec. So I am infected I have tried the safemode, Mcafee, norton, ewido, hijackthis etc and still cant get rid of it, but I am still new the hijack this I had just deleted the one file. But it brings me to a few pages, then one says to go buy pctools. I did some reading and read that to get pctools is good. I dl that it came up with like 800+ things and said I had to pay. I know there is another way because when something like this happend months ago, I was able to remove it fast with out that other stuff.

Any help would be great thankyou.

Welcome to the forum, It appears you missed the information tashi pinned to the top of the page:
"BEFORE you POST" -Preliminary Steps and scanning with SPYBOT-S&D
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
I would review all pinned topics if I were you, it is there for you.

You have no antivirus program, those online scanners will not protect you. For now, download, install, update and do a complete system scan with this free program:
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
This is NOT the Anti-Spyware program you have installed now.

C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ <<< is obsolete and was replaced by C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\ by Grisoft who purchased it. Uninstall ewido anti-malware.
You have other junk that needs to go, we will work on it later.

Follow the directions in this link: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015 When you finish the instructions, post the three logs in this same topic using the "Post Reply" button.
When you get to this point: 3) Download the trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
You already have the program, use the instructions in this link:
http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
Thanks to John McKenna for the tutorial. Make sure you follow the directions exactly, delete or at least quarantine anything located.

Spybot-S&D: Be sure to follow the directions to save the scan report but do not post it here unless requested by a helper.

Thanks...pskelley

I am sorry I dont understand I did read the part about the spybot, I did run it update it etc.

I had norton on it, I ran that, then it started acting messed up. So I ran Mcafee and nortons online scan. There was no virus's found. The log is after I ran a program called smithfraudfix, and that seemed to take out what was giving me the known problem. I deleted norton. And I got the avg because my norton ran up last month.
I hope you can work with me I am not that good with computers. And I was pretty frustrated when I spent 7hrs yesturday working on this.

I hope you can work with me I am not that good with computers. And I was pretty frustrated when I spent 7hrs yesturday working on this.I will be glad to work with you to make sure your computer is clean, what I need is for you to take you time and follow directions for me.

1) Do not quote me, we can see the instructions simply by scrolling back to it.

2)
Spybot-S&D: Be sure to follow the directions to save the scan report but do not post it here unless requested by a helper.Read the instructions and follow them carefully, the above instructions is fairly obvious and yet you posted the scan report even though it states not to.

3) Please read the directions as do only what they say and post the information requested. I have never seen a Smitfraudfix log, as far as I can see you never mentioned running Smitfraudfix in your original post, if you ran Smitfraudfix, do it again and post the log. If the log is clean, do not run the "Clean" Function, I will see it is clean when I look at the report. Run the AVG Spyware Scan as instructed. Post the results of that scan along with the results of Smitfraudfix and a new HJT log.
Thanks

Thanks for returning your information and your efforts so far. Things are improving:bigthumb: we have a little ways to go.

Run the AVG Spyware Scan as instructed in this link.
http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
I do not know what report you posted, but please run the AVG Anti-Spyware scan again, choose to delete or at least quarantine what it locates. Please read and follow the instruction completely. The instructions for the scan I need are these:
Scanning with AVG Anti-Spyware
- Open AVG Anti-Spyware and click the "Scanner" icon from the main menu.
- Click "Complete System Scan" to start scanning.
- When the scan completes, click "Recommended action" beneath the results window and select Quarantine.
- Then click the "Apply all actions" button to quarantine everything detected.
- Then click Save report > Save report as and save the Report-Scan.txt to your desktop. `

Your Java program is out of date and a security risk, see this information:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.p...80&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07 <<< out of date. Please uninstall all old versions and update to the newest.
You need to address this issue as soon as possible, remove the old program in Add Remove programs and download the newest version:
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp

Your HJT log looks clean of malware:bigthumb: I would say you are good to go. Let's do this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
