Hi peeps,

I have been trying to get this off and followed the steps suggested.

1) Run HJT and the log is attached
2) Boot in safe mode
3) Run Ewido and found a few things which it cleaned up
3) Run Ad-aware which found 1 thing and cleaned it
4) Run Spybot S&D and didn't find anything.
5) New HJT log also attached

IT IS STILL ON:sad: any help much appreciated

Welcome to the forum, it appears you missed the information pinned to the top of the page by tashi for your benefit, especially this one:
"BEFORE you POST" -Preliminary Steps and scanning with SPYBOT-S&D
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
I would appreciate it if you would review and follow all of those instructions especially these:

1) Run an on-line Anti Virus scan.
Do not be concerned if the scanner "finds" things it says it cannot fix.
Save the log/report at the end of the on-line scan to post in your topic

Please do not attach infected files!
If a helper requests files they will give you a link to upload them.
All logs should be copy/pasted into topic and not attached unless requested by helper in that format.Thank you for your understanding.

As soon as you post the requested logs, and include a fresh HJT log, I will respond as soon as possible after that.

Thanks

Thanks for following the instructions, couple of questions:

1) What is this: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\usnsvc.exe
http://nambulous.wordpress.com/2006/09/28/wlm-81-beta/
I run WindowsLiveMessenger and have not seen that before.

2) What is this: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Does New More Creative] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\encproxydoesnew\ACTIVEBURN.exe
Neither of these identify with Google: encproxydoesnew\ACTIVEBURN.exe
This also: O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Dartplan] C:\DOCUME~1\M\APPLIC~1\REGSAC~1\typestopbolt.exe+
Have you recently installed and removed MessengerPlus? Looks like C2Media/LOP. I will remove it, leave it if you know what it is.

3) Deactivate the Resident Shield for AVG Anti-Spyware, it will block the changes we must make.
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

4) Thanks to andymanchesta and anyone else who helped with the fix.

Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

(save the reports until the instructions are finished)

5) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

6) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

7) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

F3 - REG:win.ini: run=c:\windows\system32\include\svchost.exe
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Does New More Creative] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\encproxydoesnew\ACTIVEBURN.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [startkey] C:\WINDOWS\system32\server.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Dartplan] C:\DOCUME~1\M\APPLIC~1\REGSAC~1\typestopbolt.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

8) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\encproxydoesnew\ <<< delete that folder

C:\DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS~1\M\APPLIC~1\REGSAC~1\ <<< delete that folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\server.exe <<< delete that file

9) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the Report.txt from SDFix and a new HJT log.

As soon as you have those posted, then follow the directions exactly in this link:
http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
Thanks to John McKenna for the tutorial. Make sure you delete what is located or at least quarantine it. Save the Report-Scan.txt and post it in this same topic as soon as you have it.

Thanks

G'day mate. The creator of SDFix, who was nice enough to add those nasties before you ran the fix, would like a look at those files.
the files have already been added to the SDFix backups folder which is here C:\SDFix\backups\backups.zip so they could just upload that zip file.

Read the instructions for uploading files which is the first topic on the forum then start a new Topic named 'Files From Spybot's Forum' , please then post a link to this thread and upload the requested files.cab archive from your desktop.

http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=1.0

Upload the backups.zip file which will be in the C:\SDFix\backups\backups.zip. Thanks

1) What is this: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\usnsvc.exe
http://nambulous.wordpress.com/2006/09/28/wlm-81-beta/
I run WindowsLiveMessenger and have not seen that before.
Any information you can give me about that item?

Though we won't be using it I would prefer you do this: Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

Your HJT log appears clean of malware:bigthumb: but you have a lot of junk in your System Restore files, please do this:
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
If you keep the free scanner, clean the quarantine folder. You can remove the files from the AVG AS Quarantine:
-Launch AVG AS and click the Infections button.
-Click the Quarantine tab
-Choose: Select All
-Click: Remove finally
-A window pops asking "Are you sure you want to remove the selected files...??"

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.

If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
