Greetings,

Came to this site a while back (1-2weeks), and was having some issues. Followed advice on forums, but never recieved answers to posts with my Hijackthis logs. Figured we had the problem solved, since a couple scans came back negative, and firewall seemed to be running fine. Well, problem is no back. New sites haven't been visited, and potentially bad older sites weren't either. Figuring the issue is still present on the computer, just deeper than we thought. Any help would be appreciated.

You didnt respond to your previous thread
The same advice applies

Describe the problems in as much detail as possible, for example what leads you to believe there is a keylogger involved ?

Your running Hijackthis from a temp and/Or it still hasnt been unzipped, neither is a good idea.
Create a new folder, for instance C:\AntiSpyware
Download the exe from here to that new folder.
http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe (http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe)
This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong
Make and post a new log

Panda ActiveScan-Free online scanner,
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm (http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm)
Do a full scan > Click the my computer button
After the scan click see report then Save the report and post it back here please.

It appears as though you have more that one firewall installed, why is that ?
If you intend to use Kerio you must uninstall nortons firewall and turn off the windows firewall

For some reason, Panda doesn't want to fire up on my PC. It just sits at the "Activescan has Started" screen.

As far as I know, the Windows Firewall is disabled on this PC. I've shut it off through the Internet Security tabs. The Norton Antivirus that I have on this computer is not equipped with a Firewall.

Greetings,

Problem is a re-occurring Keylogger. This is documented due to issues I'm having with the game World of Warcraft. The keylogger has compromised my account.

I have turned the Norton off now. That process no longer appears in my process log.

Just to be sure, i did not suggest turning Norton off, i suggested turning off one of its features.
That feature might be ok with norton firewall or for the windows firewall but
not with other third party programs.

Mind explaining to us in more detail what leads you to believe a keylogger is involved and what it ha to do with an online game ?

Have you posted elswhere ? if so where.

Does that antikeylogger program detect anything ?

Go here and submit one of the oddly named file's
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp8746.exe
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp2981.exe
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp7908.exe
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp4414.exe
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp6099.exe
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp5609.exe
C:\WINDOWS\~tmp2201.exe

Yeowsa!!

Almost all of those "oddly-named" files came back through that scanners as something fishy/bad. 3-4 of them came up on a few as Keylogger/Password stealer.

Promptly deleted/quarantined.

I know that this PC is/was infected by a keylogger, because my gaming account was hacked into. The password to it was changed, and the individual basically got onto the game and sold all things of value on the account characters. This is a common problem in this game. My computer hasn't suffered from the normal symptoms of a Virus/Trojan/malware issue (slowing/popups/crashes/wierdness/ect). This is an isolated problem, which directly links to the game, and my passwords. I've also noticed that a few random sites that required a password seemed to have been changed. Nothing massive like Email or Banking sites, but it still raised an eyebrow.

I stand by, waiting the next course of action.

I wanted to see what virus total said

Perhaps a better idea (if they return) go attach them here, along with any other files you think are related.

I've re-run those files through Virus again, and now they all pop up as "No virus found." Not sure if this has anything to do with my having deleted them from this machine or not.

So far, S&D, Ad-aware, SpyDoctor, and such haven't returned anything that appeared overly nasty. Minor cookies, and the occasional search tracker sneaking through. These temp files you pointed out have been the craziest thing I've found, since encountering this problem.

I restarted my PC, after removing those files, and none of them have popped back up, when I searched for them.

PC still ok ?

Think Prevention: Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month

To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
