Heya, I cant actually find any malware listed in my comp cept some recurring spyware. I have noticed though that it is now taking me a LOT longer to log in after boot up and i get some errors when closing the comp like hpiqmzone or ccapp errors in shutting down.

My boot in process now seems to take approximately 3 minutes or so when I turn on comp til I can start doing things reliably.

I ran xoftspy, adaware personal se and spybot S&D, CC cleaner, then defragged harddrive twice to attempt to make sure everything that could be gone was gone.

Rebooted and ran hijack this and got the following log, if anyone can spot anything wrong or if you know why this problem might be occuring please help.

hpiqmzone belongs to Hewlett-Packard Digital Imaging

ccapp is a legit Norton\symantec file

As you can see for yourself in your log...

I also see you've done several on-line scans...

All I can suggest is .. how full is your harddrive ?

How much RAM do you have ? and is it all being read ?

Sometimes your computer eventually picks up so much clutter, that it slows down, this has not necessarily got anything to do with malware ... it's just time to do the best possible cleanup ... reformat and start again...

Well, I have 2 hard drives, my prime has approx 35 gigs free and the secondary that I just added has about 215 gigs free.

Memory wise i have 1 gig memory but no idea how to test if it is all being read.

Just seemed strange it was taking so long to stop initial hard drive and program loads. Seemed to have started all of a sudden like.

Ah well, thank you guys for looking over the log for me.

To see how much RAM you have & if it's all being read ...

Go to > Start > Run > type or copy > msinfo32 > click OK

System Information opens ...

What does it say for :-

Total Physical Memory ?

If you have a gig, then this should say a full gig...

Total physical memory is showing a full gig, 1024megs.

Available is only showing 569 megs though, only thing i have open atm is mozilla thunderbird. Seems a bit low doesnt it?

HI

No, not really.. programs which load at startup will tend to use RAM rather than virtual mem as RAM is faster, & Norton/Symantec is well known for being heavy on the resources ... 569 available is plenty to run programs...
