View Full Version : Smitfraud & Trojan.Nebuler
Hi
I have followed the steps in the post (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015) about removing Smitfraud, but when I re-run the Spybot check I still have the Smitfraud problem showing. I have also run Smitfraud Fix, cleaned the Temporary Internet Files and then run Spybot again.
I include below the logs from the various programs. I am not really sure what I am doing, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I will probably not be able to look at my PC again til tomorrow night, so don't worry if I don't reply for 24 hrs.
Norton Antivirus is also detecting Trojan.Nebuler - but it is coming up as "access denied" and then "repair failed". The file is C:/Windows/system32/winosz32.dll

Hi again :)
Please remove the old version of SmitFraudFix.
Then please download the latest version (2.124) of SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi again
Something is still not right with the PC. The popups and system tray icons have disappeared. However, sometimes when I close a window using the X, press Windows Key + E, Open My Computer or Click in the taskbar to switch back to my Internet Explorer window, the system does one of the following:
either closes the internet window i've been working in (I've had to keep reposting these logs as the window sometimes closes before I can submit the reply!) or the Taskbar, Start Button, System Tray and all the Desktop Icons disappear.
This doesn't happen every time I perform one of the above actions, just some of the time, but obviously I still have something lingering !
Look forward to hearing from you again soon.
thanks
Loraine
Hi again :)
Seems that you got re-infected....
Run VundoFix again:
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.
Hi
I've removed the new Vundo infection. I am still getting IE windows closing on me
