trying to follow before you post steps

I was going to run the bit defender online virus scan. It says that if a problem can't be fixed it will be delete, but gives you other options. I have been trying to clean this pc for a couple of weeks and I'm getting a little frustrated. My teenage son got on some porn sites, and oh what a mess. :eek: I have made it where he can't do that anymore, but the clean up is the problem. I was afraid to let the online scan just delete anything it can't fix. Just need to know if I should let it delete or not. Excuse my inexperience with this. I am not familiar with all this yet. :scratch:

Thanks for your response!

I have already downloaded and run Super anti-spyware, ad-aware personal SE, AVG anti-spyware, and Windows defender.
I have had Spybot SD for a while, although I admit not being as vigilant about running spybot as I should have been. I have run spybot at least 2 times in the last couple of days.

I have also downloaded IE 7. There was also a BHO that I disabled, as I didn't know where it came from.

I was getting multiple popups, unders , etc. That doesn't seem to be happening anymore, but I just want to make sure I get rid of all the mess!!

I am getting ready to run hijackthis and will post the log when I get it.

log looks ok, not anything to worry about. a clean hjt log isnt conclusive evidence, but you did the right thing, that is; scan with other apps to check/remove any stuff.
i think 5 is over doing it though. i would only keep two of those to use ocasionally. up to you.

Thanks for looking at the log. Yeah, 5 is probably overdoing it, but I was so freaked out at all the stuff that was going on that I wanted to make sure I got rid of every little bit! I will get rid of a couple of them now that I know everything is okay. Thanks again!!!:)
