View Full Version : "some problems couldn't be fixed" -- please help

I get this message after spybot runs:

"Some problems couldn’t be fixed; the reason could be that the associated files are still in use (in memory). This could be fixed after a restart. May Spybot-S&D run on your next system startup?"

After restart, it scans and returns the same error message. It did NOT do this until I uninstalled and reinstalled spybot 2 days ago.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Matt

What is it that Spybot can't fix,is it anything like SchedLgU.txt?To know for sure:
Run another scan with Spybot. When the scan completes select no this time when it asks to run on your next system start,then rightclick on the results list, select "Copy results to clipboard",then paste those results here.

The three above are the reason Spybot is asking if it's okay to run on restart.
Those three,and all other items in the results that are green after a Spybot scan are tracks.
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/dictionary/usagetracks.html

To get Spybot to stop asking to run on restart for those three items,I could show you how to put those three items on the single ignore list.
Or,if you would prefer to set Spybot not to scan for Tracks anymore,I could tell you how to set Spybot to only scan for spyware.Let me know which choice you prefer. :)

Since I don't 100% understand all the items/results stuff, maybe it's a good idea for you to recommend what I do (from your 2 options above). I'm assuming those 3 items are not a risk to my computer...right? As long as everything else is coming out good in the results, let's just ignore those 3 items, I guess. Is that what you would recommend?

Thanks for the help :)

You're welcome. :)
You're correct.Those three items aren't a risk to your computer,they're just tracks.If you'd prefer to add them to the single ignore list,try this:
Run another scan with Spybot,when the scan completes select no when Spybot asks to run on your next system start.
Then click the plus sign next to the green MS Direct Input entry.Rightclick this with your mouse so it's highlighted:

Most recent application
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4220956042-1911449218-140735968-1008\Software\Microsoft\DirectInput\MostRecentApplication\Name!=
Now,rightclick it and select Exclude this detection from further searches.

Do the same for the entry right after it:

Most recent application ID
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4220956042-1911449218-140735968-1008\Software\Microsoft\DirectInput\MostRecentApplication\Id!=

Next,click the plus sign next to the green Log entry.
Click on the SchedLgU.txt entry with your mouse,so it's highlighted,then rightclick and select Exclude this detection from further searches.

However,if you did not intentionally set Spybot to scan for tracks,and aren't feeling too comfortable with them yet and you aren't 100% understanding the results stuff yet,I'd suggest setting Spybot to a spyware scan only.Here is how to do that:
Open Spybot,then click Mode up top,then select Advanced Mode.Next,click Settings,then Filesets.Right-click somewhere in the window to the right,and select Spyware check only.

But,it is your choice,I think you should pick whichever one you prefer best.
