After returning home from the holiday weekend, I found my computer loaded with all kinds of malware and my homepage hijacked. I ran a BitDefender online scan, and followed all other advice in the Sticky threads. Critical System Error popups abound. Thanks so much for your time and help.

Welcome to the forum, if you are not receiving help elsewhere, please follow these instructions.

1) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

2) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

3) You are running MSConfig in Selective Startup mode. I need to see the logs while it is running in Normal Mode with everything enabled. You may return to Selective Startup to save your resources when we finish.

4) It appears BitDefender can not access this area:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine\ <<< navigate to there and clean out that quarantine folder, this may help:

or this area: C:\Documents and Settings\Bobby Goodpaster\.housecall6.6\Quarantine\ <<< navigate to that quarantine folder and clean it out, uninstall housecall if need be.

5) Follow the directions in this link: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015 When you finish the instructions, post the three logs in this same topic using the "Post Reply" button.
Please use these instructions when you run AVG Anti-Spyware, make sure you delete or at least quarantine what is located.

Thanks for returning your information. This program is obsolete:
C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe Grisoft which purchased this program released AVG Anti-Spyware to replace it. There will be no more updates, please uninstall this program in Add Remove programs.

The HJT log is showing this version of Java: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\ and it can be used by hackers to infect you, see this:

Restart the computer, post a new HJT log and let me know how the computer is running now.

Thanks for the feedback, everything looks good, so I suggest you do this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
