Hello,
I used to use SpyBot a while ago but quit due to the conflicting apps. But I'm no computer expert and just do the best I can. Last night I was attacked by Pest Trap and needed to get rid of that so...
I installed the newest version of SpyBot and let it reboot my pc to run it's first time. Most of the way through the run it froze with an error box open but the dialog part of the box was empty. There were other SB windows it had opened behind that which were also empty. Nothing responded so I had to reboot.
When Windows opened the pop up boxes for changes to the registry started opening for my approval but the buttons were messed up and some of the words on the buttons were gone so you couldn't actually use them. Still it announced on the next reboot that some changes had been approved and some had not!
I rebooted again and re ran SpyBot and this time no errors happened but now I don't know if my settings for tea timer, internet watch etc are still there or were disallowed by the registry error problems.
Has this ever happened to anyone else and what do you do to insure you don't screw up your registry when you're not sure what is trying to be changed, or if it's safe or just some left over stuff from the malware you are trying to get rid of?
Any help will be appreciated. :buried:
