View Full Version : Anonymous Surfing???
Hey Guys,
I've been digging around looking into what this involves but I dont know much about it and I need some trusty advice from a place such as this, which you dont get from a plain out and out google search. I cant find any recommendations on the site that blows the whistle on bogus antispyware sites. Is there really such a thing, and if so which is the best recommendations for freebie anonymous surfing or can you point me to some good reliable info?
TIA
Musical
Hey Guys,
I cant find any recommendations on the site that blows the whistle on bogus antispyware sites.
Rogue Anti-Spyware Programs.

which is the best recommendations for freebie anonymous surfing or can you point me to some good reliable info?
I have tried Anonymizer (http://www.anonymizer.com/default.html) which is a paid program/7 day trial, and a free one the Cloak. (https://www.the-cloak.com/anonymous-surfing-home.html)
Be aware that an anonymous surfing program/proxy will slow down surfing speed, your own connection and the proxy/bandwidth used also being a factor.
Despite the hype, it is difficult to be totally incognito on the web. :)
Thanks Tashi for your thoughts.
Heh, funny you should mention cloak as that was the 1st one I looked at and went through their policies and what not. I guess it comes down to taking them at their word. Thats why I've come to reputable sites like this, who may know for sure how "squeaky clean" these sites Im looking at are.
So what did you think of Cloak?. You say it's difficult to remain "totally incognito"...so does that mean it's still possible? I know they log your IP just like all the ISPs so I'm kinda thinking they can still track you, and call me paranoid but I do wonder whether these type of sites are just a front to catch out people who are well...errr..ummm doing not what theyre supposed to be doing. Not that I'm one of those, but I consider and place a high value, like many of us, on our privacy and that theres a principle involved.
Cheers Musical.
Hi there.
It is a personal choice but for me the slow down in my surfing with those two programs was not worth any anonymity given.
Have you taken a look at Proxomitron, I forgot that one and found it quite useful.
Proxomitron General (http://www.castlecops.com/f10-Proxomitron_General.html)
Proxomitron Filters (http://www.castlecops.com/f65-Proxomitron_Filters.html)
Sidki_Proxomitron (http://www.castlecops.com/f178-Sidki_Proxomitron.html)
:)
Thanks Tashi for getting back again. Ill go look at these options right now.

1) .." it is difficult to be totally incognito on the web." and
2) the 'slow down' issue
If I may, there is also some good advice in the newsgroup(s) of www.grc.com as well as a recent Security Now (episode#70) at:
http://www.grc.com/sn/SN-070.htm
which goes into some fairly easily-digested detail of the processes involved.

You can try this
http://www.privacyconnector.com
It encrypts all your outgoing traffic and make you surf Internet anonymously. But their speed is not fast...

The best recommendations for freebie anonymous surfing is
Is that a spammer?
There is no such thing as anonymous surfing, only high grades of near-anonymity. And it's a question that affects both sides, Tor and the like for example might even make you way more unsecure if you use http instead of https - intelligence and bad guys both can set up public Tor exit nodes as well and protocol everything unencrypted if you jist think Tor=anonymous.
Is that a spammer?
Yes....
