View Full Version : Pipas A plus new redirect?

Hi

For a while Spybot has been indicating that this computer is infected with Pipas but has been unable to delete it and I have just worked around the redirects that Pipas produces.

Since yesterday I have another problem in that all attempts to load .co.uk web sites are redirected to a variety of apparently random sites. Other addresses (.com .org .net) are not affected, just .co.uk as far as I can tell. This is a real pain that I cannot work around.

I would be grateful for any assistance to get rid of these plagues.

I have run Fixwareout and attach the report together with a subsequent Hijack This log.

Your antivirus might delete when you get close to them, thats fine.

Note:
If You have connection problems or those 017's ~ 85.255.115.42 85.255.112.114, return >
Before doing this write down all the settings, Note that not all system/setups even have these settings, While some connection service's will require them.
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties.
Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.

Do that for every conntection listed.

Hi Lonny

Thanks for your quick response.

I have deleted the line entries in Hijackthis and manually deleted the two files in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder as you advised. Afraid the redirects on .co.uk web sites are still occuring.

I ran Blacklight as suggested but no files were listed.

I am posting the log from Blacklight and the latest hijackthis log.

Lonny,

Thanks for that and for deleting my double post, sorry about that.

Since my last post, although I have done nothing to account for it, I can now access my .co.uk web sites. You might think that I didn't check it properly after deleting your suggestions but I know that I did.

What I didn't check was the redirections caused by Pipas which I couldn't do because I couldn't access Google. Well I can now and it seems fine. I have just run Skybot and there is no sign of Pipas, thats a first for over a month.

In the circumstances I take it you don't want me to run Panda or the F Secure scanner?

Many thanks for all your help.

Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month

Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let one of us know via a PM (personal message).
