Lately it seems that my pc has been slower and not acting right. Everytime i run a virus scan, it doesn't find anything. I run spybot daily and sometimes it finds stuff and sometimes it doesn't.
I am getting Active X control errors on websites and registry scans. I also went into my add/remove programs section and noticed a bunch of stuff in there that I have no idea what it is. It won't let me uninstall them either.
I am at the almost at the point of re-installing windows. Please Help!!!

Hello Elementis,
Welcome to Safer Networking Forums :)
Could I please see an uninstall list? This will be a big help for us both.
Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
Thanks,
tea

There is still a bunch of weird stuff in my add/remove programs, but I don't see any of that on the uninstall list.

Can you give me an example of some of them?
* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/check.gif
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/move.gif
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
Close Dr.Web Cureit.
Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously, along with a new HijackThis log in your next reply.
Thanks,
tea

Hello,
Is this a more complete list? http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=2101

They're all legit.

Please run HijackThis! and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entries, if present:
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...ch/search.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
Close all browsers and other windows except for HijackThis!, and click "Fix Checked".
Reboot your computer.
Please download, install, and update AVG Anti-Spyware (formerly Ewido) (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/)
Load AVG and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Click on the Scanner tab at the top and then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
AVG will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. AVG will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.
Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
In your reply, please post the report from AVG and a new HijackThis log. Please also let me know how your computer is running. :)
Thanks,
tea

Hello,
Looks good. :bigthumb: Those are all in System Restore.
Click Start Menu > Run > type (or copy and paste)
%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it ( something you'll remember) and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.
Next goto Start Menu > Run > type
cleanmgr
Click OK, Disk Cleanup will open and start calculating the amount of space that can be freed, Once thats finished it will open the Disk Cleanup options screen, click the More Options tab then click Clean up on the system restore area and choose Yes at the confirmation window which will remove all the restore points except the one we just created.
To close Disk Cleanup and remove the Temporary Internet Files detected in the initial scan click OK then choose Yes on the confirmation window.
Please tell me how it's running?
Thanks,
tea

You may need to uninstall, then reinstall McAfee. Read here on the problem. http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=414944&sid=7772416505ab86c76f2de9c44d2f2738
Let me know how you come out. Everything else looks clean. Aside from this, how is your computer running?

Everything seems to be better now. When my mcafee pops up with a registry change alert, the options are to allow or block. So I just been blocking them.
Still not sure why I have A:Drive floppy controller in my device manager though. I have it disabled, but I don't remember that ever being there before. I don't have a floppy disk drive on this computer. Just C:Hard Drive, D:DVD Drive, & E:CD Burner Drive.
Thanks for all your help once again. If I ever need help in the future, I will be sure to come back. Happy Holidays!!!:bigthumb:
