Protection Bar/help when have a chance

I was infected with the virus that caused pop ups, tried to get me to buy their anti virus programs, and I had the protection bar. Now, I thought that I had read that an alternative to HJT was SPY ON THIS??? I downloaded and bought the Spy on this program because of that - I am scared now. When program didn't work I went ahead and ran HJT and I am going to copy this and AVG report.

First, please review this information:

Please do not attach infected files!
If a helper requests files they will give you a link to upload them.

Run the "Search" function again, if it locates anything then complete the instructions and post both the "Search" results and the "Clean" results for me to view using the copy/paste method.

Use the instructions in this link and run AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 again so we can see if anything is left.

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback, let's clean up a little like this:

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

4) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall SpyOnThis if there. While there uninstall any program you know does not belong there. If you are unsure, let me know and I will look.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\SpyOnThis\ <<< delete that folder

7) MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SYSTEM RESTORE
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot. <<< very important

3. Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.


8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer is running.

I couldn't find - C program files/spy on this - anywhere to delete. I am sure that I had already uninstalled and deleted it. Does it appear it's gone?

Thanks for the feedback, the HJT log looks to be clean of malware:bigthumb:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
