Hi Fuzzybof :)

You got some infections there...

Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe) (by S!Ri)

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm (http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm)

NOTE: Do not run any other options from SmitfraudFix until I tell you to do so!

One more thing, the program that found the "bug" was Lavasoft's Ad-Aware SE Personal. Would you like me to run another scan with that also?

Hi again, looking quite good now :)

How are things running ?

Fix the following leftover with HijackThis:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1a1ddc19-5893-43ab-a73f-f41a0f34d115} - (no file)

Reboot the computer and scan again. The entry you fixed should be gone.

Yes, you can run a scan with Ad-Aware, let it clean what it finds.

Let me know how the computer is running :bigthumb:

well i ran Ad-Aware after the HJT fix and the "bug" is still here. I ran HJT again and the "O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1a1ddc19-5893-43ab-a73f-f41a0f34d115} - (no file)" is not there anymore. I still am unable to use my browser in normal windows. I am doing all of this in safe mode. Is it possible that tea timer might be keeping somthing around? Or one of the othe programs?

here is the adaware log

can you suggest which programs i should be using to keep my computer clean. It seems a little silly to have four different programs that are supposed to do the same thing.

I ran adaware in safe mode. it usually doesn't load up in safe mode. Any way it found two of the "Bugs". Here is the new log

i let adaware remove it. I will run it again in normal mode and see what happens.

i work mon-fri 7a- 4p. is there anyway for you or sombody else to help me while i am home? That way i would not have to wait a whole day inbetween steps. I appreciate your help very much Mr_JAK3 but it has been almost a whole week since i got this thing. (My fault for not coming here sooner i know) If there is no way this can be done thats ok, it would just be nice to get some "instant" feedback. you know?

Again thank you very much for all of your past and continual help.:bigthumb: :bigthumb:

Well, I followed your instructions from your 2nd post again, this time avg anti-spywar caught the "bug" and i quarantined it. After I restarted my computer into normal mode i ran Ad-Aware twice and it came up clean both times. I restarted again and ran Ad-Aware again. It came up clean the last time also. I am posting this in normal mode so it think we hacve this beat! let me know what you think. I will be more than happy to post any extra log files. thanks again!

Hi looks quite good :)

The Ad-Aware finding is just a file from system restore. That can be easily cleaned but we'll need to make sure that the computer is running fine first.

I still am unable to use my browser in normal windows.
What is exactly the problem ? Could you please be more exact. What happess when you open the browser ?

sorry it took so long. i guess out of sight out of mind. I thought everuthing was fixed. But today i tried to log in here and i was unable to. it would show the "thanks for logging in" page and then reload the log in page. This was the same problem i was having before. It also does this when i try and log into other forums, and my yahoo e-mail. I am going to run avg, spybot ect again. let me know what logs you want.

By "normal windows" i ment regular start up. Every time i want to post something i have to reboot in "safemode with networking."

So the computer runs in normal mode ? You can surf the net in normal mode but you can't sign in ? Are you sure that you haven't blocked the use of cookies ?

1. Download this file - combofix.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe)
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Ok, nothing bad there.

You didn't answer my questions:
So the computer runs in normal mode ? You can surf the net in normal mode but you can't sign in ? Are you sure that you haven't blocked the use of cookies ?

Have you tried with eg Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) ?

I have not changed any settings for Internet Explorer. They are all on their defaults. I downloaded Firefox and it is working. Yes, the computer works in normal mode. Correct, with IE i could surf but not log in anywhere. And no i have not disabled cookies.

Hi :)

The problem doesn't seem to be malware related. Your system is looking clean.
I would recommend that you visit CastleCops (http://www.castlecops.com/). They have eg "Browsers" section.
I think you'll find help there.

You don't seem to a firewall (http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?p=56#56) running, you must install one firewall.
NOTE: If you're using Windows XP firewall, I recommend that you install a better firewall. Windows firewall doesn't really provide enough protection.
Disable Windows firewall after installing a new firewall.

These are good (free) firewalls: Sunbelt-Kerio (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm)
ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/)
Sygate (http://http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3356)
Outpost (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1056)

Now you can clean AVG's Quarantine:
Open AVG Anti-Spyware
Click Infections
Click Quarantine tab
Click Select all
Click Remove finally
Close the program
You can remove the tools we used.

Then you should update your Java to the latest version (6.0) Start
Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs
Delete the old Java, J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp).
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Install it

Now you can make your hidden files hidden again.
Go to My Computer
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
Click the View tab.
Checkmark the "Display the contents of system folders"
Under the Hidden files and folders select "Show hidden files and folders"
Check "Hide protected operating system files"
Click Apply and then the OK and close My Computer.

=============

Now that you seem to be clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
Clear your system restore (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/mcgill1.mspx)
This will clear the system restore folders from possible malware that was left behind during the cleaning process.

Use ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1)
Download and install ATF Cleaner. Clean your temporary files & folders with it regularly.

Use Ad-Aware (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/?showtutorial=48)
Download and install Ad-Aware. Update it and scan your computer regularly with it.

Use AVG Anti-Spyware (http://www.ewido.net/en/)
Update it and scan your computer regularly with it.

Use Spybot S&D (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/?showtutorial=43)
Download and install Spybot S&D. Update it and scan your computer regularly with it.

Install SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)
SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.

Install MVPS Hosts file (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm)
This prevents your computer from connecting to harmful sites.

Use Firefox browser (http://www.mozilla.org)
Firefox is faster, safer and better browser than Internet Explorer.

Keep your systen up-to-date (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com)
Visit Windows Update regularly.

Keep your antivirus and firewall up-to-date
Scan your computer regularly with your antivirus.

Read this article by TonyKlein (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=279)
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Stand Up and Be Counted ! (http://www.malwarecomplaints.info/index.php)
The site offers people who have been (or are) victims of malware the opportunity to document their story and, in that way, launch a complaint against the malware and the makers of the malware.

Stay clean and be safe ;)

Ok let's get rid of the leftover...

Backup your registry:
Start
Run
Type the following to the box and hit Ok: regedit
A window opens, click on File
Choose Export form the menu
Change the save location to C:\
Give the filename, RegBackUp
Make sure that the filetype is set to Registryfiles (*.reg)
Click on Save and Close the window

Open Notepad (NOT WORDPAD!) and copy the following lines from the quote box below into a new document, leaving a blank line at the end. (don't forget to copy and paste the word REGEDIT4) :

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper objects\{1a1ddc19-5893-43ab-a73f-f41a0f34d115}]

Make sure there are NO blank lines before REGEDIT4
Make sure there IS one blank line at the end of the file.

Save the document to your desktop as Fix.reg and filetype: All Files
Go to your desktop and double click on the file to run Fix.reg and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.

Remove any older versions of SmitFraudFix.

Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe) (by S!Ri)

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along witha HijackThis log.
