Help, please! I have been informed by Norton AV that it has detected the virus Trojan.Horst on my computer. I went to their site to find out how to remove it (http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2006-113015-3846-99&tabid=3) and the process looks very scarey indeed. I am reluctant to go through the steps they recommend without some reassurance.
Also, how did I get this virus when Norton is supposed to be protecting me?
I'm sorry if I've posted inappropriately. I've been here before, and at that time I read the preliminary requests; but I'm feeling to frantic right now to take the time to do that. Can some compassionate soul please help me? :eek:

OK, Tashi, I've upated Spybot and now I'm running Trend Micro's online scanner, which tells me it's going to take 3-1/2 hours! (I have a 256 kbps connection....):sad:

Trend Micro Housecall 6.5 didn't give me a log, just the following message:
Scanning and Cleaning Complete
HouseCall did not find any potential threats on your computer. Make sure you run HouseCall once a week to keep your PC clean and malware free.
Sorry. I should have mentioned that I'd also run Spybot and got a "no problems" message back.
Well, I just had a popup appear on my screen which said "Norton AntiVirus has detected and removed a virus from your computer," giving the name as Trojan.Horst, and also saying "The file was automatically deleted." Earlier today I'd gone to the Symantec site and used the Intelligent Updater to download the latest updates. I have LiveUpdate operating all the time, but apparently it doesn't download every day. Previous to doing this update, the message I'd received from Symantec had said "Norton AntiVirus has detected a virus on your computer.... Unable to repair this file."
So I hope everything's ok now. I guess I'd better look at my Norton A/V settings and see if can get LiveUpdate to run daily.
