Hi all,

I have another system tray 'virus' alert that directs me to antivermins.com.

I have tried numerous fixes including the latest SmitfraudFix. I have also ran smitRem.

Smitfaurdfix says there is no issues to clean but the icon is still there.

Hi,

yesterday I installed some software (I think it was some depositfiles toolbar) and I had the same trouble, here is the captured image :

I tried SmitfraudFix, smitRem, rogueScanFix and nothing worked, so I tried to solve the problem as follows :

1.) Uninstall AntiVermins
2.) Run SmitfraudFix, smitRem, rogueScanFix (in Safe Mode)
3.) Restart
3.) Download Advanced Administrative Tools (http://www.glocksoft.com/aatools.htm) and install them
4.) Run, Advanced Administrative Tools, start Process Monitor
5.) In "Processes" window choose (highlight) Explorer.EXE
6.) Click on Modules and click on Company, it sorts the modules, so the first are the unsigned ones
7.) I detected unknown module called hjpprpu.dll so I went to Windows\System32 directory and renamed id to hjpprpu.dl_
Note : If you do not see hjpprpu.dll, it could be some other module, you could experiment (renaming those unsigned dll's) but do it only at your own risk! :-)
8.) Restart and it should be gone!

I checked your HiJack log, hjpprpu.dll is there, so just rename it (or delete it) .

Sorry, we were posting at near the same time. I see nothing in the information you posted that changes my instructions. Please follow them. I would appreciate it if you would wait for instructions and stop downloading and running junk for a bit. Thanks

Let's do this:

1) Move HJT out of the TEMP folder you are running it in. There will be no backups for safety. I prefer it here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need more instructions, use these:

2) Update your Java program, see this information:

Download the newest version then uninsall all old versions in Add Remove programs.

3) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< tutorial if it helps.

Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Restart the computer and post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfradfix, a new HJT log and let me know how you are running now.

Thanks for returning the information. I requested a restart before you posted and this HJT log is run while still in safe mode? I also see these:
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)
are still showing in your "Trusted Zone" and I do not believe they should be there. Did you put them there? Did you run the Optional fix as suggested?
It could be the reboot will fix this, so please restart your computer and post a new HJT log for a final look.

The balance of the HJT looks ok and you should be good to go. I suggest you follow these instructions:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
