One anti spyware prog is saying there is Elitemedia Pop 64 and all other scans are turning up nothing, clean. Spybot S&D startup has one entry , now disabled, with no info, Blank, says it is AGOBOT-KU. Scans done and logs saved for a2 squared, AdAware SE, Spybot S&D, TrojanHunter, Trojan Remover, Kaspersky AV, Online scans Bitdefender and F-secure. All clean. Spyware Doc, free, says 12 problems. Scan run with Avast, before Kaspersky install, was clean also. Ran EasyCleaner registry, log saved of changes. Have found Elite in regedit but unsure how to proceed. Hijackthis log done. Have no popups, no changed web pages. Comp a little slow on shutdown, but nothing unusual.

Welcome to the forum, you said this:

Have no popups, no changed web pages. Comp a little slow on shutdown, but nothing unusual.I am not really sure what your problem is. Let's start by getting rid of the programs you downloaded and do not own.

First, understand that TeaTimer (in Spybot S&D) and SpywareGuard both do the same thing, my suggestion would be to keep SpywareGuard and TURN OFF TeaTimer like this:
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm As long as you are running SpywareGuard (keep it updated) leave TeaTimer disabled.

Let's make sure we have one antivirus, one firewall and one good active Spyware programs.

I see Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and that is a very good antivirus program. Make sure you are running no other antivirus program.

What are you running for a firewall?

Which of these programs did you purchase?
a-squared Anti-Malware
TrojanHunter 4.6
Spyware Doctor
AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
If you do not own the programs, uninstall them, let me know if you are running anything in Windows live that applies to these areas. If you own none of them, and nothing is running from Windows Live, once they are removed, I suggest this free program:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

If you still have AVG Anti-Spyware onboard, please run a scan using these directions and post it for me:
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165

Your Java program is outdated, download the newest version and uninstall all old versions in Add Remove programs, see this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
Once you followed the above instructions, restart the computer and post the scan results from AVG Anti-Spyware and a new HJT log. Let me know about any malware issues at that point.

Thanks

pskelly
Sorry about the delay getting back to you, xmas happened and now all is back to calm again. Season's Greeting's and all the best in the New Year.:crowned: Your help is appreciated.

Problem is Spyware Doctor(free) is reporting EliteMediaGroup and no other scans are finding it.

First, understand that TeaTimer (in Spybot S&D) and SpywareGuard both do the same thing, my suggestion would be to keep SpywareGuard and TURN OFF TeaTimer like this:

---Assumed Teatimer would be the better choice as it is updated more often than SpywareGuard, which has not updated for some months now.

I see Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and that is a very good antivirus program. Make sure you are running no other antivirus program.

---Avast is the Anti Virus I have always used, just switched to Kaspersky to see if it would find the Elitemedia that Spyware Doctor found. Have uninstalled Kaspersky and returned to Avast since posting.

What are you running for a firewall?

---I use the firewall in Windows. Have considered Outpost.

---Have purchased none of these. Have used Windows Defender before. Is now installed again. I use the online windows scanning at Windows Live Safety Center

If you still have AVG Anti-Spyware onboard, please run a scan using these directions and post it for me:

AVG scan results were negative-

Your Java program is outdated, download the newest version and uninstall all old versions in Add Remove programs,

---Java has been updated.

I'll just briefly comment that I am not a fan of SpywareDoctor. Does it tell you where this EliteMediaGroup is. Won't be the first time a free program has found false positives to create a purchase.

I personally run SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and IESpyad (all freeware) I use Spybot S&D (TeaTimer off) and Adaware as backup scans but they do not run. I will post links from experts in a bit and after you review what they have to say, if you still have questions, post them.

Here is what I see yet in the HJT log:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\netdde.exe <<< this is probably a valid file but it can be either, would you scan it with:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/ to be sure. We want it to be this:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/netdde/

C:\Program Files\Prevx1\PXConsole.exe I don't see the running program? Unless you own it, I would uninstall it. It is also running in services:
O23 - Service: Prevx Agent (PREVXAgent) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Prevx1\PXAgent.exe" -f (file missing)
This is a good program if you buy it and it is your main active protection, but otherwise it uses a load of resources and should be removed.

Here is another program running in your services that is doing you no good if you do not own it:
O23 - Service: AVG Anti-Spyware Guard - Anti-Malware Development a.s. - C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe
Looks like you uninstalled this one and I am surprised the service was not removed by the uninstaller. At the very least disable it in services.

Just to be sure, I suggest you clean your system restore files:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

The computer is running better already, shutdown and boot is quicker.

Before posting the first time, I typed exactly what Spyware Dr. found into the windows SEARCH function and it came up in registry, but I know nothing about registry and afraid to touch or remove anything there. A friend suggested running System Mechanic, but haven't researched or run it yet.

---Done.

---AVG was uninstalled when 1st HJT log was done and then reinstalled to follow your post instructions. It has been uninstalled again.

I ran the Registry Booster scanner from Uniblue, it found 139 problems the first time it ran, I fixed nothing. Ran it a second time it found only 66 problems, fixed the 15. Will seriously consider purchasing this product.

Just to be sure, I suggest you clean your system restore files:

---Cleaned out system restore.

This machine now runs like new!!! Less than 2 min for reboot. GREAT!!! I cannot thank you enough for the time you have given me and the information to do what needed to be done. My computer education is from the university of Trial and Error, Internet research and mostly from Tech support staff and those like yourself who give freely of their time, expertice and patience. The service you provide is AWSUM!! Thank you again and all the best to you in the coming year.

Sounds good, if you are comfortable working in the registry, I will post a link to a good freeware registry cleaner you can use. It is very important that you back up your registry before working in it. Here is that link, instructions for backing up and instructions for using the freeware tool.

Safe surfing...Phil:)

http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

Backup Registry:
Backup your Registry...
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run...)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

I recommend you download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder,
open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program.
Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK.
When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked
and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within
the search results and select delete. Run it again and again, deleting everything
it finds until it finds nothing. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly,
control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything).
In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click
any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen.
Reboot When done.
