Trojan Still There?

Hi, I used the HJT and the smitfraudfix to stop the popups coming out of the video activex object thing i downloaded. so to make sure it was completely gone, i went back to the site to see if i could view the video, and i could! before, i didn't have the bad plugin and it wouldn't let my play it. but now i can play it, but no spyware stuff is popping up. is this a problem? is there anay way to completely take the stuff out? thanks

btw, i don't see the activex object file anywhere on this log anymore. some files got deleted by the smitfraud thing, but some said it could not be deleted?

Hello and welcome to the forum. It appears you missed the valuable information tashi pinned to the top of the forum for you, especially this one:

If you will take the time to review those instructions, then run the required online antivirus scan and save the results to a file on your Desktop, I will ask for it when I need it.

Please follow these instructions.

1) Remove any Smitfraudfix you have on your computer. Now go here:

and download the newest version of Smitfraudfix, then do only this:

2) Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

3) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

4) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

F1 - win.ini: run=fntldr.exe
O3 - Toolbar: Protection Bar - {0D045BAA-4BD3-4C94-BE8B-21536BD6BD9F} - C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Object\iesplugin.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

fntldr.exe <<< search for that file and delete it if you locate it.

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post that C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log.

For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.
