Hello
Hope this is a good place to post this. My wife turned on her computer last night and got a blue screen with the following message:
Stop: C0000218 {registry file failure}
The Registry cannot load the hive (file):
\systemroot\system32\config\SAM
or its log or alternate
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete
contact our system administrator or
techincal support for further assistance.
I turned off the computer and restarted and a page came up giving some options about restarting, one of which asked if I wanted to start based on "last know registry" which I selected, however, the screeen then returned to the above message again.
Please help if you can. I am a little concerned since she doesn't have a back up of any data and all her schoolwork and thesis docs are on her computer.
