Security Shield 2012 problem

Hello. :)


I posted in this forum on June 16, http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=66093 and am creating a new thread as instructed...with the DDS file in this post, and the zipped Attach file attached.

Basically, i thought i'd removed the virus using instructions from another Spybot forum post but for some reason, various logos/images are not appearing in web pages.
The popups of the rogue malware Security Shield 2012 have stopped.

I found further removal instructions similar to the Spybot post and tried them...right up to step 25. Still no change in this "web page image" issue.

Tea Timer was off during all our troubleshooting efforts.

The person i've been helping has stated three things have changed in the browsers...images missing, text sizes changed, some colour differences.
After doing steps 22 and 23...the text sizes had changed again. Possibly back to normal.

In step 25 we installed and scanned with Secunia. We allowed it to do all repairs it found...and updated 3 things.

The person was viewing an IMdb movie listing page when he saw the first instance of Security Shield 2012.
I installed Firefox to see if that would help.
I uninstalled java and reinstalled it.
We checked to make sure the current version of Flash was installed.
I had last asked him to install Chrome and see if there was any difference but have not heard a report back yet.

The DDS file was created after all of these efforts. (except the Chrome install)

Nevermind...i'll just reinstall the os.

I went over to my friends to reinstall everything...but it was unnecessary.

I noticed the desktop preferences were set to Windows Basic.
When i changed it back to Windows Aero theme...things like the Google logo reappeared in IE9 and FF13.

Very strange.
