Need help identifying/removing malware

I have been having issues with some form of system comprimise, leading to the comprimise of an online gaming account. While I have been able to upgrade the security on said account, I believe the software is still present on my machine.

I have run scans with the following software:
Webroot Spysweeper
Spybot S&D
Malwarebytes 1.37
AVG free 8.5
Kapersky Online

There are 2 reason's why I still beleive the software is present on my machine.

1. My gaming (WOW) account password has been continually reset by a third unauthorized party. I was able to curb this only by purchasing an authenticator.

2. Spysweeper, while its scans do not find anything, is continuously alerting me that it has blocked outgoing data to a site known to harbor malware. This occurs with or without my browser open, and with or without WOW running. These msg's come in spurts and then cease for periods of time before coming back. Some of the sites listed are sites like and other combinations of numbers. Never the same site, but many of the sites have a combination of numbers like 3322.org, 7939.com or are sites with names like adawarenow.com. When spysweeper is turned off, there are no popups or any activity that is noticeable.

The log is with all security programs disabled. When I recorded the log, there were no recent reports of spysweeper blocking any outgoing, but it was continuous for all of yesterday.

One other note, I'm not sure if its relevant, task manager shows the "system" process as running at 66k with a peak of 132k. I'm not sure but that seems more than usual.

Since the post linked by a moderator, I have installed spysweeper and malwarebytes.

Also, when refering the the amount of memory being used by the system process, I meant to state that it was using 66,000k to 132,00k peak.

If you have immunization turned on in Spybot then those alerts from Spysweeper are nothing to worry about.

You should have only one antivirus installed there. At the moment there are two: AVG and Webroot Antivirus. Decide which one to keep and then uninstall the other one.

Uninstall Ask.com Toolbar if not installed on purpose.

Uninstall old Adobe Reader versions and get the latest one here or get Foxit Reader here. Make sure you don't install toolbar if choose Foxit Reader! You may also check free readers introduced here.


Did Kaspersky online scanner detect anything bad when you did the scan?

Hello Blade, thanks very much for taking the time to take a look at this. Its difficult with so many scans returning 0 results. As noted in my linked post, I thought I was clean until I received an email notifying me of a password change that I had not done for a different account name from the previously comprimised one and a different password. Im not really concerned with the game as much as having a keylogger on my system in general.

Kapersky online scanner returned 0 results. I planned on uninstalling AVG but didn't want to change anything before I got a response. I'll be uninstalling it now along with the other suggested uninstalls.

Upon booting up today teatimer gave some odd notifications. Below is part of the log from today.

Im not sure how I allowed the value changes, but Im guessing it was some error on my part (Not really sure if they are relavant). This is the first time I had been promtped to terminate these processes, though I havn't rebooted in some time.

If you don't feel any of this is out of the ordinary or poses no threat, let me know as I do not want to waste any more of this boards time.

Those look legit processes to me. Since you have Spysweeper's real time protection on you could disable Spybot's TeaTimer.

Ok, I wasn't sure it was an illegitimate smss.exe, I never noticed more than one instance of it running.

Thank you very much for taking a look. If the spysweeper messages are of no concern then there's really no other sign of infection. The only other way I could test would be to remove the added security feature from my wow account and see if it gets hijacked again, but I don't think its worth doing :) (I have an authenticator that feeds a 6 digit number that changes every 30 seconds).

Im sorry to waste any time. There was no doubt that I had a key logger, but there was never a definitive message of anything being found/removed through the various means used. Though somewhere along the way the problem may have been passively fixed. If you know of any way to monitor what processes or programs are sending info outbound it would help put my mind to rest.

However, if there are no other suggestions I'll go ahead and ask for the thread to be closed.
