The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Fraud.Antivirus2008" manually.

Description:

Fraud.Antivirus 2008 claims to be an antispyware solution. When it is installed on the computer it shows a lot of harmless cookies, browser helper objects and autorun entries as high risk spyware problems installed by itself. When the user wants to fix these false positives he has to purchase a license. Fraud.Antivirus 2008 is nearly the same application as Fraud.XPAntivirus.

Removal Instructions:

Desktop:

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Shortcuts named "Internet Antivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Internet Antivirus\IAvir.exe".
• Shortcuts named "Advanced Antivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AAV\aav.exe".
• Shortcuts named "Antivirus XP 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH1>\*.exe".
• Shortcuts named "Windows Antivirus 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\WAV\wav.exe".
• Shortcuts named "antivirus-2008pro.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Antivirus 2008 PRO\antivirus-2008pro.exe".

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Items named "License Agreement.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH1>\license.txt".
• Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH1>\Uninstall.exe".
• Items named "Antivirus 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH0>\antvrs.exe*".
• Items named "Uninstall Antivirus 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH0>\antvrs.exe*".

Important: There are more start menu items that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Quicklaunch area:

Please remove the following items from your start quick launch area text to the "Start" button in the taskbar at the bottom.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Quicklaunch symbols named "Antivirus XP 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH1>\*.exe".

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries named "Internet Antivirus" and pointing to "*\Internet Antivirus\*".
• Entries named "3P_UDEC_IA" and pointing to "*".
• Entries named "Antivirus2008y" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\<$REGMATCH0>\antvrs.exe".
• Entries named "antivirus-2008pro.exe" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Antivirus 2008 PRO\antivirus-2008pro.exe".
• Entries named "Antivirus" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Antivirus2008\Antvrs.exe".
• Entries named "Antivirus" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Antivirus 2008\*.exe".
• Entries named "Antivirus" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ANTIVIRUS 2008\Antvrs.exe".

• Delete the registry key "rhc553j0e9cv" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\".
• Delete the registry key "Antivirus 2008 PRO" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "Antivirus" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "Antivirus" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
• Delete the registry value "3P_UDEC" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\".

If Fraud.Antivirus2008 uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
