Manual Removal Guide for ActMon-Pro

The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "ActMon-Pro" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

ActMon-Pro gets startet at system startup and runs in a hidden mode. So the user is not able to recognize that all keystrokes are recorded

Removal Instructions:

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\actmon.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnl.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\lxsasse.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\ActMon\ActMon Commander.lnk".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\ActMon\ActMon Manual.lnk".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\actmon.INI".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\actmon.chm".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\actmon.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnl.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnlb.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnlb.exe".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnlc.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnlc.vxd".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnld.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\wskrnle.dll".
• The file at "<$SYSDIR>\drivers\wskrnlc.sys".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If ActMon-Pro uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

• The directory at "<$COMMONAPPDATA>\lxsass".
• The directory at "<$COMMONAPPDATA>\syswin".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\ActMon".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If ActMon-Pro uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "wskrnlc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "wskrnlc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "wskrnlc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "lxsass" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
• Delete the registry key "lxsassc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "lxsassc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "lxsassc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\".
• Delete the registry key "syswin" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
• Delete the registry key "wskrnl" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".

If ActMon-Pro uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
