Manual Removal Guide for PestCapture

The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "PestCapture" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

If PestCapture is installed on the computer it will find a lot of malware (that does not really exist) which only can be removed by purchasing a licence. MalwareAlarm is in close relation to BravesEntry and SpySheriff.

Removal Instructions:

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Items named "PestCapure.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\PestCapture\*.exe".
• Items named "PestCapure.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\PestCapture\*.exe".
• Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\PestCapture\Uninstall.exe".
• Items named "PestCapure.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Pest Capture\*.exe".
• Items named "PestCapure.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Pest Capture\*.exe".
• Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Pest Capture\Uninstall.exe".
• Items named "Pest-Capure.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Pest-Capture\*.exe".
• Items named "Pest-Capure.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Pest-Capture\*.exe".
• Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Pest-Capture\Uninstall.exe".

Autorun:

Important: There are more autorun entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "PestCapture".
• Products that have a key or property named "Pest Capture".
• Products that have a key or property named "Pest-Capture".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• A file with an unknown location named "PestCaptureSetup.exe".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture.lic".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture0.dll".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture0.pc".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture1.dll".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture1.pc".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture2.dll".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\PestCapture3.dll".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture\Uninstall.exe".
• The file at "<$DESKTOP>\PestCapture.lnk".
• The file at "c:\Program Files\Pest Capture\Pest Capture.lic".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PestCapture uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

• The directory at "c:\Program Files\PestCapture".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\PestCapture".
• The directory at "c:\Program Files\Pest Capture".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\Pest Capture".
• The directory at "c:\Program Files\Pest-Capture".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\Pest-Capture".

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "PestCapture" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "Pest Capture" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
• Delete the registry key "Pest-Capture" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".

If PestCapture uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
