The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Zlob.NewMediaCodec" manually.

Description:

Installs and runs files that are supposed to look like legit Windows files in background. It also does not show any EULA and connects to the internet in background. This trojan horse is able to download additional malicious code from the internet.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "NewMediaCodec".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\msconfig.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\NewMediaCodec\install.ico".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\NewMediaCodec\NewMediaCodec.ocx".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\NewMediaCodec\Uninstall.exe".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\iedebug.dll".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\iesupport.dll".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\iesettings.dll".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Zlob.NewMediaCodec uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

• Delete the registry key "{875EC8E3-3E30-4BAA-B228-21832F321FB5}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{150EA8E7-A97C-4816-AD02-4865EEF8C5FF}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{B6A3935F-8FE4-49A4-B987-A1C09E53589F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{EF94A58F-599B-4602-9C34-99683C5859B1}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "NewMediaCodec.VideoSupport", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "{CDC0999C-999C-4EE1-875B-5C3542641768}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• Delete the registry key "{BABA5BDB-4EFF-48DB-B443-679651D37128}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{6FCA20C9-25A8-4BD4-9D68-4F7DE928A7D3}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{EBFF5D21-59A8-4328-9439-EA3FB3BAFE47}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry value "msconfig" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run\".
• Delete the registry value "iedebug" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad\".
• Delete the registry value "iesupport" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad\".
• Delete the registry key "{9FA1AA9E-7ECF-4f3b-AC23-7F09E01298E4}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "VPNS.VPNSApp", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "{9FA1AA9E-7ECF-4F3B-AC23-7F09E01298E4}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\".
• Delete the registry key "{9FA1AA9E-7ECF-4f3b-AC23-7F09E01298E4}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
