The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Power-Antivirus-2009" manually.

Description:

Power-Antivirus-2009 claims to be an antispyware solution that shows harmless entries as high risk problems. If the user wants to fix these false positives he has to purchase a license.

Removal Instructions:

Desktop:

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Shortcuts named "Power-Antivirus-2009.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\*.exe".
• Shortcuts named "Power-Antivirus-2009.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\*.exe".

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

• Items named "Purchase License.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\License.txt".
• Items named "Start Power-Antivirus-2009.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\*.exe".
• Items named "Support Page.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Help.url".

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries named "Power-Antivirus-2009" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\*.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$APPDATA>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Power-Antivirus-2009.ini".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Uninstall.exe".
• The file at "<$APPDATA>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Power-Antivirus-2009.ini".
• The file at "<$APPDATA>\Power-Antivirus-2009\spline.dat".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Buy.url".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Help.url".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\HowToBuy.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\ID.dat".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\License.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Restart.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009\Uninstall.exe".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Power-Antivirus-2009 uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

• The directory at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\Power-Antivirus-2009".
• The directory at "<$APPDATA>\Power-Antivirus-2009".
• The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Power-Antivirus-2009".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Power-Antivirus-2009 uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "Power-Antivirus-2009" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".

If Power-Antivirus-2009 uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
