The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "CoolWWWSearch.SearchAssistant" manually.

Hijacks browser pages and causes advertising pop ups .

Removal Instructions:

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\se.dll".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If CoolWWWSearch.SearchAssistant uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Delete the registry key "{9597986E-5F6F-4211-9273-4B0697CA319A}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Remove "{9597986E-5F6F-4211-9273-4B0697CA319A}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html\".
• Remove "{9597986E-5F6F-4211-9273-4B0697CA319A}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/plain\".
• Delete the registry key "{F86CEC77-7D05-40BB-B67B-C49405C7EC58}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Remove "{F86CEC77-7D05-40BB-B67B-C49405C7EC58}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html\".
• Remove "{F86CEC77-7D05-40BB-B67B-C49405C7EC58}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/plain\".
• Delete the registry key "{1B3A56AB-C95A-4CCD-BF50-E8E3F03238F5}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Remove "{1B3A56AB-C95A-4CCD-BF50-E8E3F03238F5}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html\".
• Remove "{1B3A56AB-C95A-4CCD-BF50-E8E3F03238F5}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/plain\".
• Delete the registry key "{F10F1E31-6A3B-42EA-8552-15245F0402C9}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Remove "{F10F1E31-6A3B-42EA-8552-15245F0402C9}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html\".
• Remove "{F10F1E31-6A3B-42EA-8552-15245F0402C9}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/plain\".
• Delete the registry key "{FDEC237C-4C51-4EFD-A7A3-A1B078DC4241}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Remove "{FDEC237C-4C51-4EFD-A7A3-A1B078DC4241}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html\".
• Remove "{FDEC237C-4C51-4EFD-A7A3-A1B078DC4241}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/plain\".
• Delete the registry key "{5EA39867-E420-4E71-8DDB-FA102807C295}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{A0B980D8-33B4-4773-94FD-7641C23DC8F6}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Remove "{A0B980D8-33B4-4773-94FD-7641C23DC8F6}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/html\".
• Remove "{A0B980D8-33B4-4773-94FD-7641C23DC8F6}" from registry value "CLSID" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/plain\".
• Delete the registry key "{5EA39867-E420-4E71-8DDB-FA102807C295}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
