Description:

Iopus.STARRMonitoring is a keylogger which runs in a hidden mode in the background of the operating system. It records all keystrokes without the permission of the user and so it is possible to spy on the user.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries named "windll" and pointing to ""<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\wsys.exe"".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$PROFILES>\All Users\DRM\slog.sys".
• The file at "<$PROFILES>\All Users\DRM\slog.sysz".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\License.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\Readme.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\see32.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\see32u.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\see32z.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\ssys.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\starrcmd.exe".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\Starr-Manual.chm".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\Uninstall_STARR.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\Whatsnew.txt".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\wsys.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\STARR\wsys.exe".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Iopus.STARRMonitoring uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:
